“More total-electric homes
are being built today
because more home buyers
are asking for them.”
Over 120,000 total-electric homes have been built since
1960. And that’s in Georgia. The nation has almost
three million total-electric homes.
Why? Because electricity is the cleanest, most versa
tile energy available. It can do just about anything, from
lighting a doorbell button to keeping each room a differ
ent temperature.
Builder Lee Lineberger discusses what electricity
does for the homes he builds: “Really, 1 save money and
time on construction. With Georgia Power’s wiring al
lowance. I’m able to provide full housepower for all the
electrical appliances the homeowner may want. And the
buyer enjoys the comfort, convenience and economy.”
Along with houses, apartments and mobile homes,
Mr, Lineberger is developing a 2,000-lot subdivision. So,
like many other builders, he’s not only using total-electric
construction, he's doing more with it.

B.C.H.S. Herons
Loses to
Telfair Trojans
By Gene Wiley
The Brantley County Herons
put up a stiff defensive battle
against the strong Telfair Tro
jans, but came out on the short
end of a 14-6 score. The young
Heron team faced its strongest
foe of the season and never
stopped trying until the game
was ended. Even in losing, the
Herons showed the poise of a
winner.
Co-Captains Rayford Blue
and Clayton Edgy lost the toss
of the coin and Marshall Edgy
kicked off to Telfair County
and action began on the Tel
fair 30 yd. line. The first quar
ter proved to indicate how the
remainder of the game would
be. Telfair moved the ball for
only a short distance against a
grudging Brantley defense and
had to punt. The Brantley of
fense took the ball on the
Brantley 30 yd. line and were
unable to move against a heav
ier Telfair defensive line.
Quarterback Larry Johnson
punted 25 yards and the game
continued to be a see-saw af
fair between the 30 yd. lines
until late in the second quar
ter when Telfair kicked the
Herons in the hole at about the
Brantley 15 yd. line. The Her
ons were unable to move the
ball and the attempted punt
failed, giving the Trojans the
ball on the Brantley 5 yd. line.
On one play with 1:40 to go in
the half, Larry Mcßae carried
the ball into the end zone for
the first score of the game.
Mike Bush added the P.A.T.
and the game was 7-0 at the
half with Telfair leading.
Jerol Drawdy received the
kick-off for Brantley to start
the second half and returned
it 15 yds. to the Brantley 43
yd. line. Again the Brantley
offense was unable to get mov
ing and the ball was punted
dead at the Telfair 16 yd. line.
The Trojans bulled their way
down the field to the Brantley
6 yd. line where they were in
a fourth down and 2 yds.to go
situation. The alert Brantley
defense threw up a mighty
wall and Leon Able caught
the ball carrier 3 yds. behind
the line and Brantley took fl
ver at their own 9 yd. line. The
Herons moved downfield be
hind the running of Rayford
Blue until they stalled at the
Telfair 30 yd. line.
In the fourth quarter Larry
Mcßae scored on a 28 yd. run
after a successful drive which
began on their own 37 yd. line.
Bush was again accurate on
the P.A.T. and the score stood
14-0 in favor of Telfair with
9:13 remaining in the game.
CERAMICS
After a 15 yd. punt return by
Benjie Walker, the Heron
drive again stalled on the Tel
fair 29 yd. line. The Herons
were not to be denied the
next time they were to get the
ball. Thy took the ball on the
Telfair 29 and moved to the
Telfair 8 yd. line where Paul
Langford hit Benjie Walker
with a touchdown pass. The
Herons chose to go for the two
point P.A.T. and Paul again hit
Benjie, but Benjie was unable
to make it into the end-zone,
so with 2:06 remaining in the
game the score stood 14-6.
Brantley County then attempt
ed an outside kick but the ball
only traveled about five yards
and Telfair had the ball a
round the 45 yd. line of Brant
ley County. Telfair ran out the
clock with the ball on the
Brantley 29 yd. line. The final
score was Telfair 14 and
Brantley 6.
The offensive stand outs
were Rayford Blue wth 70 yds.
rushing and 31 yds. passing,
Larry Lane with 35 yds. rush
ing and 25 yds. passing, Leon
Able with 30 yds. The other of
fensive starters were Benjie
Walker and Jerol Drawdy at
end, Thomas Herrin and Char
les Lewis at tackle, Clayton
Edgy and Jerry Crews at
guard, Martin Brooker at
center, Larry Johnson at quar
terback, and Marshall Rainge,
Larry Lane, and Leon Able as
backs. Darrell Dubose and
Rayford Blue also alternated in
the backfield.
The defensive standouts
were Benjie Walker with 8
tackles, Leon Able with 6
tackls, Davey Able with 5 tac
kles Larry Johnson, Henry
Strickland, Thomas Herrin,
Paul Langford, Jerry Crews,
Marshall Edgy, Clayton Edgy,
Archie Lee White, Marshall
Rainge and Rayford Blue.
