Wintertime is on the way and a lot of people will cover their shrubs when the first severe cold spell is forecast. Is it worth it? Most horticul turists agree that putting blan kets, tarpaulins, plastic bags and cardboard boxes over shrubs is not worth the effort. In fact, the use of some covers —such as clear plastic— may increase chances of cold in jury. This is especially true if the plastic remains over the shrub during daylight hours.
