Litter is a complex problem. And solving it calls for
understanding and united action.
1 Litter isn’t caused by bottles or cans or convenience
packaging. Litter is caused by the thoughtless man.
• The thinking man can stop it.
2 The natural first step is individual action. Let’s all be a
little more thoughtful. Let’s make sure that we, ourselves,
• are not adding to the litter problem.
3 The thinking man takes active steps to keep his
community clean. The tools are at hand.
4 The United States Brewers Association is ready to help
you. We’re working at the local and national levels to
create greater public awareness. To attack apathy.
• To help Keep America Beautiful.
5 If we tackle this problem together we can soon have
it all wrapped up. Write us today and we'll help your
9 community develop a campaign against litter.

Plants we build today will help
clean up the environment tomorrow.
Our construction budget for 19 7 1 tops ^3^3 rndb^n.
And the generating plants we’ie building require
from five to seven years for completion. You don’t
make investments such as those just to turn on an
electric toothbrush.
Last year our customers used more than 30
billion kilowatt-hours. The demand is expected to
double in only seven years. We must build to meet
present needs and be ready for tomorrow, too.
One potential need for power is in environmental
cleanup. Electricity can drive machinery for recycling
waste or compressing scrap metal. Operate sewage
treatment facilities. Run plants to desalt or purify
water. And when electric energy is put to its fullest
use in transportation, its contribution to clean air
may be immeasurable.
Electricity already works for you in hundreds of
helpful ways. In the future it can do even more. And
the future is not far away.
