Your electric
You touch a switch, perhaps without thinking. But
you expect a swift, invisible power to work for you
instantly. And it will, because we’re building to keep
ahead of electric demands.
Behind that switch there are thousands of people
working. Years of research and planning. And many
millions of dollars.
Our construction plans call for $ 1 million nearly
every day this year. Costs have soared, interest rates
are high. But, to assure ample generating capacity
for your needs, it’s vital that we build without delay.
And wherever we’re building, conservation of
natural resources is an important part of the plans.
Our budget designates millions of dollars for modern
equipment to help preserve air and water quality. Be
cause supplying reliable electricity is our business.
And protecting the environment is everybody’s.

OF DOROTHY HAM
BAR-B-Q CHICKEN
Number of Chickens (whole) 5 10 50 100 250 500
Oleomargerine (pounds) 1/2 1 5 10 25 50
Lemon Juice (cups) 1 2 10 20 50 100
Garlic Salt (teaspoon) 1/2 1 5 10 25 50
Salt (tablespoon) 1 2 10 20 50 100
Worchestershire Sauce (tablespoon) 3 6 30 60 150 300
Place oleomargerine in large container and heat until all of it
is disolved. Add garlic salt and cook until flavor permeates
oleomargerine. (If whole garlic is used it must be chopped very
fine and cooked longer than when using garlic salt). Add other
ingredients and heat and STIR until sauce is thoroughly mixed.
DO NOT BOIL! Swab sauce on chickens as they are cooked.
Select fresh, ice packed, 2 to 2 1/2 pound chickens and split
in half. Sprinkle lightly with salt, but do not use too much as
sauce has salt in it.

1 gal. tomato pulp
2 tbsp, salt
4 tbsp, black pepper (whole)
4 tbsp, sugar
2 small red peppers sliced and
seeds removed
ground paprika may be added
to give color
Cook tomatoes throughly and after putting through a colander,
add pepper and spice. Use whole peppers and spice tied loosely
in a bag. Cook about 1 1/2 hours until it becomes thick, then
add vinegar and cook until thick. Rapie cooking, being care
ful not to scorch the catsup, will give a better color than slow
cooking. Pour the catsup at once into a hot steralized bottle or
jar. lYocess IS minutes at simmering and seal.

QUALITY EGGS
Georgia ranks second only
to California in production of
commercial eggs. And Jerry
Cox, poultry marketing spe
cialist with the Extension
Service, says Georgians pro
duce quality eggs. They gather
eggs four times daily—
especially during warm
weather-wash them imme
diately, and store them in an
egg cooler room where the
temperature is between 45 and
55 degrees.
TOMATO SUCKERS
Tomato plants may be hard
to find later on. Paul Colditz,
Extension horticulturist, says
it’s possible to use suckers
from older plants. He suggests
selecting plants that are
disease-free and removing the
larger suckers. These can be
transplanted directly into the
soil, or the lower end can be
placed in water until new roots
are formed first.
