" REWARD FOR OBEDIENCE "
GENESIS 22:1 - 18
Much is said these days about obedience
and disobedience. The civil unrest and re
sistance to authority is called "civil disob
edience. " A personal action in defiance of
and in opposition to the laws of the land are
acts of disobedience. Each of these of course,
have their reward, but the reward is not
always pleasant nor is it always welcome.
The greatest reward a per son can hope for
is such reward as that which comes from
God as a direct result of our obedience to
His will for us. Abraham, in the text cited,
is one of the best examples we have for ob
edience to the will of God. It is also one of
the best examples of God's reward for
obedience. In this example we have three
es sential things which lead to the favor and
reward of God.
In the first place, Abraham had a recep
tive ear. "How do we know this,"you ask?
Without any static or hesitation whatsoever
Abraham answers, "Here I am. " You can't
be an obedient Christian without having a
receptive ear. Our children can not obey
their parents until they know what we want
them to do. Both we and they must receive
God's will if we are to be His obedient
children. "Here I am. "
In the second place, Abraham had a res
ponsive heart. Abraham could have respo
nded to God's call and then turned a deaf
ear to everything else God had to say. Had
he done this he would have missed God's
blessing. But, he didn't turn a deaf ear. He
listened intently as God spoke. God said,
"Abraham, take now thine only son Isaac to
the land of Mor iah and offer him for a burnt
offering." In response Abraham rose up
early in the morning and went all the way.
In the third place, as the direct result of
Abraham's obedience, God said to Abraham,
"I will bless thee. " These words ring with
authority and love. They are God's words
to the obedient. For all who obey Him, God
has provided a Lamb. That lamb is His Son
Our Savior Jesus Christ. Obey Him. Res
pond to His call and be obedient to His will.

A&O TO BAI
The Court House Has Not and Will Not Be Erected at Hoboken
The election for county site for Brantley county went in favor of
Hoboken by a small majority on Wednesday. But this does not say
by any means that Nahunta has lost the proposition for plans are
being laid by the citizens in this portion of the county to contest
with the veiw of throwing the election out. The Banner will stay
hereto help fight the county site removal if it takes forty years to
move it. The ballot of the people on Wednesday clearly demons
trated that a great deal more than half the people of the county are
in favor of Nahunta and as long as we can keep them that way we
have a chance to win. We say the fight is over by no means. The
court house has not been erected at Hoboken and never will. The
people who are in favor of Nahunta are in the majority and can
control the situation if they will stick together. Cont. Page 2col. 1&2
