Peace & Goodwill
It is a little hard to write about the Bible without
getting into controversy; For that same reason such
material finds it even harder to get into print. But for the
sake of peace on earth, and what we can do about
achieving it, we can give it a try; here goes:
Some 2600 years ago the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah
wrote a remarkable passage, to be found in his book in
Chapter 31 : 31 - 34. The last verse carries the climax. In
it God optimistically forecasts there will come a day when
all men will know Him. He even includes a recondite hint
as to the circumstances.
Jesus of Nazareth picked up this modus operandi some
650 years later, but the real key came along a bit later
still, and did not get into the gospels. We may conjecture
- that Jesus passed it on as a postscript to Saul of Tarsus,
who was to become the Apostle Paul, on that blazing and
dazzling way to Damascus. Paul had his own way of
organizing his material, and his writings have come to us
in several bodes of the Bible. The key passage is in 1
Corinthians 3:16.
Here Paul brings us face to face with an overwhelming
honor, and a terrible responsibility. He reminds us that
the Spirit of God dwells within us, in over three billion
human beings today. But more than three billion human
beings are affrighted to acknowledge that signal honor.
They have yet to negotiate the first step, stipulated in
Jeremiah 31:34.
But ponder, if we are all here in the world as bearers of
this Spirit of God, how can we consider killing our fellow
bearers of His Spirit in war? For God has not designed us
for the purpose of killing each other, but rather to carry
on His work of Creation. We are His multitude of fingers,
and His portable, versatile, high speed computer.
Enigmatic as it may be, that computer, composed of over
three billion human brains, does pour out tentative
solutions in rapid fire succession. They mostly miss out in
almost random, rather chaotic lack of organization. Such
consistent failure is seated in our wilting at the very
thought of approaching God. cont'd next week.

said, ’’the other two commiss
ioners must be given credit
for attaining the results that
a state government seldom does
and the national government
never does. ”To pay off a gross
indebtness and not Increase tax

Stewart. ’’Usually the theory
is to buy more, go into debt
more, and levy more taxes”,
he added.

Counterfiting Report Fails to
Get FEDS or
The Nahunta Police Depart
ment reported a case of sus
pected counterfiting in Nahunta
last week.
Police Chief Mack Crews
said he reported an incident
to the F. B. I. with no re
suits or assistance given. Ac
cording to Crews, the Officer
in charge at the local office
of the F. B, L in Waycross
stated that counterfiting was
outside his area of responsi
bility. Crews told the EN
TERPRISE that he knew coun
terfiting was not a State of
Georgia offense and did not
call the G. B. L He said
that Mr. Tom Moore, Officer
in charge of the F. B. I. of
fice in Waycross was con
tacted with ” little or no re
sults”.
Crews said that he was cal
led at about 12:30 A.M. May
25 by a local motel operator.
The motel operator reported to
the Police Chief that there was
some unusual equipment left in
one of the motel rooms and that
very suspicious activity had
been noted by the occupants of
the room. Crews investigated
and reported finding evidence
of developing and printing ma
terial.
Police Chief Crews called
long distance, the Officer in Ch
arge of the Treasury Dept, in
Atl'”^ to ask for assistance
in the case. The Officer there
reportedly told Crews that he
would assign one of his field
agents that was at the time in
the vicinity of Nahunta, to the
csss, said thst acont
Field Agent
would be in Nahunta before
noon that day. The OI C re
portedly also told Crews to ask
the motel operator to lock the
room until the arrival of the
agent.
According to Crews, when the
agent was about 8 hours over
due, he called the OIC in At
lanta again. ” With-in an hour
an agent in Savannah called
and said ” I was just noti
fied by my boss in Atlanta”.
The agent reportedly told
Crews that he was too busy
to come to Nahunta tonight
( Thursday ) but ” would be
there one day next week”.
Chief Crews said that he
told the motel operator to
” throw out the mess ” and
go ahead and rent the room”.
OFFICIAL ORGAN BRANTLEY COUNTY AND CITY OF NAHUNTA
Crews told the ENTERPRISE
that ” he has never been so
sick or disgusted over any
thing in his life as he is with
the F. B. I. and Treasury
Dept.” Crews added that he
has been called on several
times to assist Federal Agents
in their work, but when he tried
to get them to do a little in
vestigating within their own
responsibility, they have no
interest in it.
