HEM TIP
If you’re about to let a hem

that revealing white line. Then
put a row of fancy stitching

GOLDEN ISLE
SPEEDWAY
RACE RESULTS
Ron Eulenfeld and Eddie Mc-
Donald, Sr., split the twin bill
Friday night at the Golden Is
les Speedway, Eulenfeld win
ning the initial 30 lapper and
McDonald coming in first in the
second 30-lap feature.
It was one of those racemeets
that cause the Official Scorer
to go away talking to himself,
what with Late Model Drivers
swapping machines, Hobby cars
entering the Late Model fea
tures, unknown mystery-driv
ers piloting race cars, and
late arrivals entering mid-way
the race.
Speedway Officials rules that
the five fastest Hobby cars
could be entered in the late
Model feature, for this one
night only, providing that a
qualified LMS driver was at
the wheel. This gave the Ham
by crew from St. Simons an
opportunity to put Sam Somm
ers in their No. 73 Buick,
which had previously won the
Hobby Division race with Tom
my Riggins driving. Carter
Ramsey climbed Into Randy
Parr’s number 15 and “ John
Doe” circled the track in Dan
ny Farmer’s hobby car.
Fifteen LMS machines lined
up on the track for the start
of the first 30-lap feature race,
but Eddie McDonald, Jr.’s no.
92 had no driver. At the very
last minute, Eddie McDonald
Sr. sped into the pits and ran
to his son’s car, hopped in and
got underway, but was never
able to overtake the leading
contenders, Eulenfeld, Cuyler
Payne and Joe Nolen, who ra
ced hard all the way, fighting
for first position.
With 15 laps down, Eddie
McDonald, Jr. made the scene
in his dad’s car and finished
the race, giving him enough
laps to qualify for a starting
position in the second 30-lap
per.
In an inverted double fea
ture, the rules are that the
winning line-up of thefirstrace
is reversed and the cars are
lined up in that order to st
art the second feature. This

put Eulenfeld, Payne, Nolen
and McDonald, Jr. on the tail
of the pack to start the sec
ond race. McDonald Sr.’s no.
90, having the fewest laps,
was given the pole position
and the two McDonalds swap
ped machines to start the race.
Big Eddie led for 26 laps. As
he was about to lap Eulenfeld
his car spun out on the fourth 1
turn and dropped back to fifth;
spot, but this didn’t stop Me-'
Donald, and he came back st-'
rong and overtook the leaders
with only four laps remaining.,
Payne made a tremendous es-.
fort to grab second spot from .
Jack Nolen, but spun out and
dropped to fifth. Newcomer'
Earl Pearson, driving car no. 1
42, finished seventh place in
both events, posing a threat'
to the more experienced dri
vers and bears watching.
