The Brantley Enterprise, Nahunta, Georgia, August 3, 1972
TO THE CITIZENS OF BRANTLEY COUNTY:
In further announcing for re-election to the Office of Chair,
man, County Commission, I want to state some of the accom
plishments of this Board during the past three years.
In just the area concerning road construction, that is,
“ paved ” road construction this Board has performed what
it took the past Board several terms to equal.
Following are the paved roads completed since January 1, 1969.

Total Mlles under Construction 13.986
It is apparent that 11.041 miles of paved roads constructed
here in Brantley County did not just happen. Good planning
and good management caused it to happen.
The same must be said for the paved roads under
construction at this time. The 13.986 miles being made to
day didn’t occur by accident, many hours of planning and
hard work were required to get the construction started.
These roads will be constructed in a logical and reason
able time on a schedule to meet the needs of the public as
funds are made available by the State.
Following are roads planned for paving.

Miller Reveals
Demo Priorities
ATLANTA (PRN) - Zell
Miller, the Executive Director
of the Democratic Party of
Georgia, made it clear in a
recent speech to the Northside
Kiwanis Club in Atlanta that
“the priority of the Georgia
Democratic Party will be to
elect Georgia Democrats.”
He pointed out that there
was an important United
States Senate race, other
statewide contests and that
one-third of the Democratic
State Senators had opposition.
Thirty-nine Democrats have
Republican opposition for the
State House of
Representatives.
“These are the things that
are most important to me as
the Executive Director of the
Democratic Party of Georgia.
This is where all my energy
and what little resources we
have will be spent,” Miller
continued.

measures at the polls,” Powell
Harry Powell, left, and Marshall Keen, Powell’s

FOR HONESTY AND DEDICATION TO
LAW ENFORCEMENT
The responsibilities of the sheriff's
department are varied and many. These
responsibilities are to the County and
its Citizens, and can only be met by
devoting full time to the job in the county.
DRUGS are believed to be one of the
most serious problems in our country.
News reports continue to name Brantley
County as a ready source in drug traffic.
This problem is of great concern to
me and shall be one of the first to re
ceive my attention.
Patrolling of ALL county roads is im
portant in the prevention and control of
crime. This includes unpaved roads as
well as paved.
I am working hard to see each of you.
If I do not, I hope you will understand
and that you will cast your vote for me.
