To The Citizens of Brantley County:
This is to certify that I Joe T. Crews gave
the check shownbelow that was written by my
wife Elma L. Crews in behalf of our son Da
vid S. Crews, to the Board of Commissioners
I had met with the board in an informal me
eting at the Commissioners Office in the
Courthouse. I ask George F. Stewart, Ch
airman of the Commission to meet with me
after my wife and I discovered that only $4. 00
of a $9.00 check had been turned into the
County Treasurery. Task the Commissioners
this question; Why the check written for $9. 00
was not turned over to the Treasurery since
it was for a legal paper that had to be re
corded in the Clerk's Office. I knew also th
at all fees collected in the Clerk's 2-fice
are supposed to be turned over to the Co
unty Treasurery, and I know also that this
is required by State Law.
I futher certify that my son, DavidS. Crews

Facts Presented — For People to Consider
This is the face of the check
written to D. F. Herrin, Clerk
of Superior Court. It is sign
ed by Elma L. Crews and
shows the amount of $ 9.00.
It also shows the purpose for
which it was written.
was in no way involved in this matter. My
wife paid this amount of money for him to
get the legal paper recorded.
I futher certify that the Ordinary of Brant
ley County, Perry U. Rozier, knew nothing
of the matter about the check, nor of my
meeting with the Commissioners.
I presented the check and receipt to the
Commission because I know that they are
charged under the laws of the state to over
see these matters.
I make this above statement not in defense
of myself but for my dear wife and son. I
make it also for my friend and brother,
Perry Rozier. The reason I make it for them
is because of threats made against them.
My mind is clear of the matter as I had
rather be condemed by the people than be
judged wrong by the Lord.

me on the matter.
I feel compelled to now make public the

untrue. Some will think it okay to take mo

The only thing that I say is that it is fully
