Higginbotham Reunion
More than one hundred de.
cendants, relatives and friends
attended the Annual three-day
Higginbotham Family Reunion
during Labor Day week-end.
These are of the Willie G. and
Annie W. Higginbotham pioneer
Brantley County Family.
Among the group were the
seven ( 7 ) living children of
this family’s thirteen children
as pictured. Fourteen of the
twenty • six grand children
as pictured were also in at
tendance.
The high - light family dinner
on Sunday held at the old home
place of the family located in
the Southeastern part of Brant
ley County near the old lower
Big Buffalo Creek Bridge.
More than 80 people were n
attendance. The bountiful din
ner table in the yard was over-
flowing with delicious food from
the family baskets brought.
| These included “ Aunt
Carrie’s ” chicken and dump
lings, Aunt Mary’s tomatocrac-
ker salad, Elvin’s Pheasant and
I dressing. Belle’s orange salad
! and fruit cocktail cake with
1 many others too numerous to
mention. James and Stanley
own the old home place now.
The annual fish fry was held
on Saturday as usual at the
Higginbotham fish camp (home
of Flurnoy and Mary Higgin
botham ).
The Monday dinner was also
spread at this site with all
the special dishes.
Family pictures of past
fishing, boiling peanuts and
daily visits to the grapevines
were part of the activities en
joyed along with fellowship and
picture making.
These families and Individ
uals started coming into Bran
tley County on Thursday and
some will visit through this
week. The greatest distances
included Miami, Fla., Cherry
Point, N.C., and Memphis Tenn.
Teachers and Nurses were the
most predominant professions
of the granddaughters noted.
