vised to wear glasses, and
preferably the large type, dur
ing “the season” to avoid the
possibility of pollen becom
ing trapped in the eyes. They
should also keep doors and
windows closed, particularly
on windy, dry days. An air
conditioner turned to “recir
culate” is helpful. On high
count days, staying home is
recommended. Household,
garden and insect sprays, and
solutions with strong odors
should be avoided.
Antihistamine drugs are
usually helpful in controlling
Ihe sneezing, swelling and
itching of eyes, nose and
throat. A nasal spray such as
NTZ which contains an effec
tive decongestant and anti
histamine is often
recommended for temporary
relief because it is mild and
effective. Or, a physician may
prescribe a tablet with a simi
lar combination. Sometimes
eye drops help, too.
