Safety Precautions Listed
For Christmas Decorating
ATLANTA (PRN) - The
tragedy of fire may mar the
Christmas Festivities for many
Georgians this year. It is
estimated that over $3 million
dollars in property and homes
will be destroyed this holiday
season. Such tragedies could
be avoided through
preparation and caution.
According to Comptroller
General Johnnie L. Qddwell, a
great deal of this loss could be
avoided through proper
preventive measures.
Caldwell, who also serves as
Georgia Safety Fire
Commissioner, released today
a list of suggestions which
could save the lives and
property of Georgians this
season.
-- Before setting up your
natural tree, cut about one
inch from the base to help the
tree absorb water. Place the
tree in a steady stand
containing sugar water.
Always keep the water level
above the cut base, and take
the tree down as soon as
possible after Christmas.
-- If you are using an
artificial tree, be sure it is
constructed of fire resistant
materials or metal.
-- Never use lighted candles
on trees. Check all electric
light sets for worn insulation,
broken plugs, and loose bulb
sockets. Use only those sets
with Un d erwr iters’
sent.
According to the Pastor,
Hugh Arnold, December is ex.
pected to be one of the great
est months yet for Sunday Sc
hool at the First Baptist Ch
urch. The people at First
Baptist rejoice in the Lord
they serve, Jesus Christ.
1972 at Riverside Chapel Bap
tist Church at 8:30 P.M.
A reception will follow at the
home of the bride.
No invitations are being sent.
All friends and relatives are
invited.

Eight Special Yuletide
Days At Stone Mountain
STONE MOUNTAIN (PRN)
- Yuletide wraps the 3200
acres of Stone Mountain Park
into a holiday package for
eight special days leading up
to Christmas Eve.
Holiday decorations,
borrowed from the rural days
of the Old South, provide
pictorial greetings from inside
and outside many of the Park
buildings. Swags and wreaths
of cedar, Della Robia wreaths
in nut brown tones, green firs
festooned with gingerbread
figures and cranberries -- the
Park reflects the ingenuity and
native materials of the Georgia
pioneers.
For each of the eight nights,
December 16 to 23, the
staccato echoes of tiny
hoofbeats open a living
nativity drama. And, a shaft of
light pinpoints three figures, a
man and woman with a small
brown donkey trudging
wearily along an ancient path.
Staged on two acres of
near-barren granite, the
pageant re-creates the first
Christmas with light, music,
costumes, choirs and a cast of
30 young people from nearby
churches.
From 10 a.m. to 5
daily, the seven major
attractions add their
holiday activities.

It’s September, the month
Chinese chestnuts mature. As

harvesting they should be
