Peach County schools recent
ly qualified for a $100,000
federal grant which aims to
improve the quality of food
served in school cafeterias.
The Farms to Schools Grant
will allow school officials to
purchase locally grown fruits
and vegetables from farmers
and offer them to students.
The project will start this
spring in all six schools.
Six PCHS band students have been chosen by the UGA Band staff to partici
pate in the annual all-star band festival known as ’’JanFest”, January 17, 2013.

based upon Band Director, Darren Johnson’s recommendation, instrumentation
need of the event and musical achievements of students. During the four-day
event, students are placed in one of the eight festival bands on the basis of an
initial audition. The bands rehearse several times before a final performance on
the final afternoon of the event.

was formerly the board
chairman and had been
interim president until
being named to the posi
tion recently. He has an
extensive background in
business, real estate and

and Savannah, Georgia.
Five-month-old Wyatt Holter, suffers from spinal
muscular atrophy, for which there is no cure or treat
ment. Wyatt’s Wish 5K and Fun Run was held this
past Saturday with 80% of the proceeds helping cover
the cost of medical equipment that Wyatt needs which
insurance does not cover. The event was a success and
the goal of $20,000 was surpassed. The other 20% goes
toward research for finding a cure. His parents are Josh
and Katie Holter and the event was founded by Holter’s
former accounting firm, Nichols, Cauley and Associates
in Warner Robins Co-workers brained stormed to come
up with the benefit. The group was hoping to raise
awareness as well as helping the Holters. About 600
people registered for the event. Kimberly Luque of Fort Valley was third over
all female winner. There were several local participants and other participants
from throughout Georgia. For race results, photos and more information check

still make a donation.
