Delight In The Lord In this day and time, rarely do we see anyone smiling, much less shouting for joy. Most people that we encoun ter along life’s way are strug gling to make it through each day. God’s divine will for His children is for them to find happiness and joy in every thing. If we try hard enough we can find good things even in the bad circumstances of life. Even though most people are not overly joyful, I have discovered that all people have the desire to be happy. That truth is revealed by the amount of money that people spend on material posses sions and recreation every day. Many people think that the way to a joyful lifestyle is by having more and more. But actually many studies have shown that people who have less are happier than those who depend on money alone for security. The most content people are the ones who depend on God’s daily blessings. The perfect formula for peace of mind is revealed in the first few verses of Psalm 37. The psalmist David writes of the things that are of great importance. If we trust in the Lord and do the right things, we don’t have to worry. We can depend on God for our every need; therefore we are free from carrying the responsibility when things don’t go exactly as we had planned. Secondly, if we do good things for our fellow human beings, we won’t have to carry around a load of guilt. Dwell in the land that God provides for us. Be willing to live life to its fullest wherever you may be. God is faithful to direct our paths when He asks us to move on. Wherever we are we should bloom where we’re planted. That is God’s way. His faithfulness is im measurable regardless of our locations. He won’t let us down when it comes to our physical needs. Depending on God is the best way to find total contentment and joy, re gardless of where our homes are built. If we delight in the Lord, He shall give us the desires of our hearts. We all wonder at times why God doesn’t an swer every prayer or give us everything we ask for. Could it be because we are not hap py Christians? How many times in the last week did we tell someone how glad we are to be God’s children? Chil dren usually resemble their parents. Do we favor God by our sight and by our actions? We should also commit our way to the Lord. Being fully committed means placing our all in God’s Hands. Turning over our lives is not easy, but God wants us to trust Him thoroughly. Once we fully trust, God works wonders in our lives. While many people rarely slow down long enough to lis ten to God, David knew that ample rest in the Lord is very important. When we’re rest ing, we are usually quiet. God loves to spend quiet time with us. Until we learn to wait patiently for God’s will to be revealed, we’ll never find true happiness or peace. Many evil people who live around us will prosper finan cially. We’ll wonder at times why it seems that the wicked are blessed while the righ teous will face many trying times. These verses tell us, however, that we shouldn’t fret or become angry about these things. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth. Psalms 37:9. We won’t ever find pure joy or happiness in life as long as we look at our worth in human terms. But when we see our selves as God sees us, we can see someone worthy of eter nal blessings. Our eternity is secure in God’s care. There’s no reason for us to be afraid, sad or lonely. When we know the Lord, we have something to shout about! You can not go anywhere without someone talking about it and social me dia has been ”blown up” with this topic. Read something somewhere that said FB was deleting some of the pro-gun sites and comments. We want to holler about our free speech rights but when you sign up for a FB account you are accept ing their terms which gives them the right to censor con tent on their site. Perhaps you, like me, forgot to read all the fine print but if you go back and do that, it allows them to censor though that word is not used. It seems our government does not know what it wants since the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) protects our sec ond amendment rights. It is funny (not really) to me how when our Constitution ben efits them they are all for it but when it goes against what they want to accomplish, it is out dated. You just can not have it both ways. In Florida a law was passed that penalized physicians if they asked a patient about gun access and ownership except in the case of emergencies. The law was ruled unconstitutional by a judge. I believe we have the gun issue all wrong. We should be educating people on proper use and storage of guns, not trying to take them away. You can look up statistics and more people are killed in other ways than with guns. Our forefathers knew what they were doing when they included that provi sion. They not only intended for us to be able to protect our selves in case of home inva sion, etc. they had foresight to know we might have to use it against government force. It is not the guns which kill people, it is the people behind the guns which is the issue. The government will try and tell you they are trying to pro tect you and our country when they try and take our guns. But I wonder, that if in reality, they are not really trying to protect their power and position? After all, in a nutshell, the main pur pose of the Constitution was to limit government intrusion in our lives. Boy, have we gotten way off track!! There is so much informa tion out there that if you start doing research you can make yourself dizzy. You have to decide which sources you trust and which ones you don’t on major issues. Quite frankly, I do not trust any of them but I do know without any doubt that our country is on a slip pery slope into the sewer. I realize Congress intro duces nonsensical laws all the time but unfortunately some of them do get passed, sometimes under the guise of another law. Recently J.J. Res. 15 proposes an amendment to our Constitu tion which will repeal the 22nd amendment which deals with term limits. Frankly, I think there should be term limits for all Congressmen, not just the president. Of course, this has to pass both Senate and House but our President likes to in voke Executive Orders and he could do so in this case. It is not just our right to bear arms which is under attack, nothing is sacred to Congress. H.R. 193 would force farm ers to pay fees on their saved seeds after a harvest and regis ter them with the government! Our forefathers would be ashamed of how far we have fallen. We sell guns to our enemies and foreign nations but do not want our citizens to have them. How ironic. I wonder if we have for gotten what it means to be American. History books have been changed so as not to of fend anyone. Facts have been changed and we allowed it and now history students do not leam the truth but only the truth as the powers that be want them to know. We hear a lot of talk about the Constitutionbeing outdated but it withstands the scrutiny of time. Franklin D. Roosevelt Please Listen, Mr. President Well, it’s on the minds of every man and woman in this country who own at least one gun for the safety of their home and family, that our president is going to take our guns from us. It’s a huge question that has caused more debates over the past few weeks than any other issue out there. Even jumping off the fiscal cliff has taken a back seat to the war on the 2nd amendment. Will our president succeed in taking the defenses of millions of innocent people and families away and leaving us to crimi nals who will not be obeying his new gun laws? Some of us really hope not and it seems like it is the majority of us who be lieve this way. Even those who blasted Fa- cebook with support for our president back before Novem ber are suddenly questioning his reasoning. Yes, the tragedy at Sandy Hook was just that, but now because of our presi dent pushing so hard to take our guns from us, people are ques tioning if Sandy Hook was not a conspiracy to get his new laws passed without question. What kind of country have we become that we cannot trust our leaders? What kind of country have we become that our lead ers feel the only way we can be safe is by disarming us and leaving us defenseless? Why do I feel that our presi dent is not listening to these thousands of people who are screaming against this law and is just moving on about his busi ness as if our opinion does not matter? The saying goes “crimi nals prefer unarmed victims, and dictators prefer unarmed citizens.” Is our president vying for the position of first attempt at dictatorship of America? We have been through so much, our union has been weak ened so far, does he not realize how terrifying it is to think of being defenseless in your own home as terrorists plot to take down the strongest country on Earth? So many unanswered questions and it seems they will not be answered any time soon as he picks and chooses what reporters can ask him questions during his press conferences. Our country has been great. It is young but it is stronger than some of the oldest countries in the world. We have to think though about that. Remember that each country has had its time to shine. Each place has shown its strength through his tory and each place has fallen because of the mistakes made by their leaders and people. Are we going to take the path of destruction? As Americans we take pride in our heritage. We are a country of people who come from far and wide and have united together to create a country so young yet so strong! Yet our president and his wife have no pride in our country. They feel we need so much change, yet the change has to come at the expense of the peo ple not the government itself. In the beginnings of our gov ernment our founding fathers served with no expectation to be paid and full of pride for the people they led. What has hap pened to this way of life? Under his presidency the U.S. had the slowest economic growth from a depression ever. In comparison, the U. S. eco- momy was the most robust ever post Civil War. Can you even name presidents from that era? How about Grant, Hayes and Garfield to name three. We cannot count on our elected officials to use good judgement all the time and though they do not obey the rules (Constitution) all the time we still need those rules. As Americans we must de mand that our Constitution be enforced and protected. Oth erwise, we will no longer be a free nation and will be ruled by the government. In case you do not know, January 19, 2013 is being de clared gun appreciation day. Organizers say they felt the need for a swift, strong state ment. Jan. 19 is the day before Sen. Dianne Feinstein is ex pected to introduce legislation for a harsh new assault weapon ban. It is also two days before the Presidential inauguration of a president who has prom ised to inititate new gun con trol measures. This is a debate which will continue and hopefully com mon sense will win. Not sure there is any in Congress any more though. If not, America may find itself in revolution.
