PAGE 5 - THURSDAY, JANUARY 31,2013 Milestones, Anniversaries And Birthdays, Oh My! February 2nd is the birthday of philosopher and writer, Ayn Rand. I remember my first in troduction to the works of Ayn Rand; creator of philosophy of Objectivism. The call cen ter I supervised was humming along nicely and we were all making piles of money in com missions. Suddenly, our best producer’s sales took a serious nose dive. This young woman had a real gift for sales so it was hard to understand why her numbers were down. Watching her more closely I discovered she was surreptitiously reading ’’The Fountainhead” (1943) by Ayn Rand and just not making as many calls. I confronted her and asked that she read on her own time. She handed her book to me and said it was right up my alley. That evening I began read ing the book and couldn’t put it down. I was many chapters into ’’The Fountainhead” be fore I forced myself to go to sleep that first night. The next afternoon I asked the young lady to go to the mall across the street and buy whatever books by Ayn Rand were available and order the rest. The guilt I felt about telling her to read on her own time then asking her to fetch books for me must have shown on my face as she offered to go to the bookstore after her shift. After I finished reading ’’The Fountainhead”, I next read ’’At las Shrugged”. That opus lays out, at length, the entire philos ophy of Objectivism dramati cally in novel form. Yes, it’s a very thick read at 1,168 pages in the first edition; however, it is worth a read. No, more than that, it’s a great investment of your time. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Read it if for no other reason than to note the prophetic nature of this book of fiction. Stitch, my puppy, will be eight months old on February 2nd as well. Adding her to our household has been a great ad venture. Yeah, yeah, that’s the way to describe it. On more than one occasion Stitch has been likened to a billy goat. Only the soles of an ancient pair of New Balance athletic shoes remains of her initial toy slash teething material—only the soles. We had to retire her friend, Tigger, because nothing but the stuffing interested her. We’ve purchased balls, Fris- bees, braided rope and many items specifically purported to be dam near indestructible. Well, let me tell you, they obvi ously haven’t met our champ. I’m planning to write to New Balance and give them an idea for an ad—“Stitch Tested Tough.” Most of the hard sur face balls will become only half its size within 10 minutes. It’s amazing, really. We are supremely thankful that with the exception of one chair leg, Stitch has only imitated her cartoon namesake on her own possessions. Stitch is, also at times, called Stench in honor of the bombs of flatulence she shares with us. Not only do these gems smell incredibly bad, they smell so bad it can min your concentra tion. The brain’s only urge is to flee the area. She’s a sleek and sweet bundle of energy. Play. Play. Play. Play. Play, play, play, play, play, play, play, Rapid And Explosive Movement Of This & That Trenesia Y. Stubbs Columnist emml:trenesia@pstel.net ad infinitum, that’s her creed. Fortunately, Stitch will enter tain herself quite nicely when necessary. It sure is neat to get goodnight kisses and early morning hugs. The Korean Martial Arts Academy held a belt promo tion test last Saturday for 20 of its students. Our Dojang was honored to have guest panelists Grand Master Da vid and Master Dawn Wilson, the founders and heads of the American Tang Soo Do Fed eration, Grand Master Carrell Smith, head instructor of Car rell Smith Institute of Tang Soo Do, and special guest panelist, Grand Master J.C. Copeland, of Thomaston, GA. Congratu lations to all of our students for showing great Tang Soo Do spirit. Speaking of kisses and hugs, James, my husband, and I will be married 7 years come Feb ruary 4th. It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. Our time together has been so won derful and full of adventure, it just doesn’t seem like that much time could have gone by. I’m grateful James is the husband and mate God gifted me with. Our marital motto is “Better Together,” and that’s unarguably true. I’m looking forward to our next 50 or 60 years to come. There are several ways that we can increase the intensity of an exercise to stimulate further development of mus cle, bone, tendon and liga ment strength. #1 we can increase the weight or resistance, so that the targeted muscle group has to work harder lifting, pulling, pressing or pushing a weight. #2 We can also move the same weight we have been using faster creating a greater resistance on the muscles being used. When we move the same amount of weight through the same distance at a faster speed, “weird as it may sound”, it increases the resistance and forces the muscle to work harder, thus stimulating the muscle group to adapt to this new intensity. The first one is a method that is used most times in a gym, but when someone has a more lim ited amount of equipment or weights at home, (such as using one’s bodyweight for exercises), the second way can be a good way to move around the limitations re stricting workout intensity, “simply by doing the move ment faster.” You can also intensify a walking routine by not only walking rapidly, but also stopping every 5 minutes and doing a rapid set of 10-15 squats. This is a big part of why programs such as P90X have worked so well for ones who have stuck it out and why the ones doing it have a more muscular and sculpted shape vs. results one often time sees coming from most aerobic classes, treadmills, jogging, steppers, ellipticals etc. A good example would vices. This is why groceries and fuel costs continue to rise ‘with out any explanation’, according to the mainstream press. We have been conditioned to accept this as nonnal as many of us reflect on the ‘good old days’ when, for example, a piece of candy cost a penny. Furthennore, we have been conditioned to see price in flation as a fact of reality. This is not so. In its one hundred year history, the Federal Reserve System has never been fully audited. The rea son: Auditing, would be a safety risk, because it would subject the system to pohtical bias. Never mind that the ‘system’ has de stroyed the purchasing power of the dollar and in the process punished savers, financed war and provided guns and butter programs for politicians eager to pander to the masses. The House overwhelming passed a bill to audit the Federal Reserve in July 2012. Now Senator Harry Reid is sitting the Senate version of an audit the Fed bill, S. 202, and will not bring it to a floor vote. Of late, Senator Mitch McConnell is negotiating with Harry Reid, to limit and/or do away with the Senate filibuster. Why now? This is a mse. Constitutional sheriffs are un der attack. Your local county sher iff is the only entity that stands between you and an overbearing federal bureaucracy. The sheriff is typically an elected office; how ever this can be circumvented if, as in the case of San Bernardino, the charter allows the Board to appoint a replacement. In December 2012, in San Ber nardino County California, the County Supervisors appointed a new sheriff because the seated sheriff resigned before the end of his tenn. The Supervisors ra tionalized that a special election would cost too much, therefore they opted to appoint a new sher iff for the remainder of the tenn. Furthennore, a couple of years ago the Supervisors appointed a CEO position and put him on a long-tenn contract. Recently they voted him emergency powers. We can see a pattern here in that decisions are removed from the people and elected officials abdicate power to an unelected official or body. Therefore, the mse: we elect representatives and then they abdicate their power in much the same way that Con gress had abdicated much of their power to the president over the years. This is now happening at the state, county and city level. We elect, they create/appoint and then abdicate power. This encourages a collectivist fonn of government, whereby regional boards are fostered, as is now ev idenced in “Regionalism” across the country. This is being brought to you by the United Nations (UN) under the guise of envi ronmentalism, which is nothing more than a program to catalog and control every aspect of your hfe. This program is called, U.N. Agenda 21 commonly known as ‘Sustainable Development’, of which Regionalism is but one component. hi 2012, President Obama be gan his Sustainable Communities Initiative. This initiative created a super agency program titled, ‘ ‘The Partnership for Sustainable Com munities” by combining the ef forts of three federal departments: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Department of Housing and Ur ban Development (HUD). This program sends Federal agency grant money to cities in order to develop plans covering housing, land, use, transportation and other community services. The reason: wealth redistribution in order to rectify injustices of the poor through a transfer of wealth. All is to level the playing field and create collectivist mantra known as “social equity”. The idea behind social equity is a “tax base sharing’ concept that would tax rural and suburb com munities to subsidize inner-city urban areas. The money in the scheme would “only” be granted if regional plans are agreed to and managed by regional authorities or governing boards. This process would frump all of your elected local city council’s decision making authority because their power would be abdicated to an unaccountable governing board. This is a mse and if it happens in your area, you’ve been had. Our federal elected officials appeal to a supra-govemmental body for pohcies, and in the process surrender control and ultimately our national sover eignty in the process. This body is the United Nations (UN). UN initiatives are in all levels of government sanctioned through executive orders (EOs) issued by president Obama and past presi dents. EOs allow the president to direct departments, agencies and public employees of the federal government. The departments and agencies in turn draft pro grams and procedures to carry out EOs. The mse: you are be ing governed by unelected gov ernment bureaucrats. Unelected departments and agencies are expanding for one reason: they are funded by congress. It is in teresting to note that solutions to the ‘fiscal crisis’ never seem to address departments and agen cies controlled by the president. This is a mse. Let’s defund many of the departments and agencies. As you give up your liberties under a guise of safety and secu rity; as you are sold out by your state, county and local elected city officials, keep in mind it is all a mse. Why? Because they are doing this for one primary rea son: They are broke. They need money and are too ignorant to reahze that they are selling your be the leg development of a high speed short distance runner vs a long distance runner. Since working muscles require blood and oxygen, rapid or explosive movement of especially the large mus cle groups, will increase the need for blood and oxygen, “this is why our heart rate and breathing will speed up so as to meet the demand.” If this demand is kept up for approximately 20 minutes or longer it will send a signal to meet another need, “this time it will be for energy.” This is when our fat cells start re leasing their energy and we get to the fat bum zone, “aka our 2nd wind.” We need to gradually work our way up to avoid injury. Our body adapts to new demands placed on it, whether it’s our muscle, bones, tendons, ligaments, brain or even our immune system, but if we place too much demand and without adequate recovery we can increase risk of injury same as in over exposure of our immune system can lead to illness. Take away: whether it’s pushups, in place body- weight squats, a walk or a regular workout in a gym, “we can increase the inten sity of our workout by keep ing an eye on the clock and gradually pushing ourselves to do the same amount in a shorter amount of time. By the way this works as well at any job at the workplace that requires physical output. We can turn our (housework, construction site, walking from car to work, taking stairs, etc.) into an exercise routine by increasing speed Your Health by Wade Yoder Master Trainer & Fitness Nutrition Specialist "of movement. Remember to fuel your engine with water first thing every morning, (it’s the next thing in line of importance to oxygen) and it does so much physiologi cally in the body, it should be called “gym-in-a-bottle!” Rapid and explosive movement develops more muscle, bums more calo ries, and it gets more done in a shorter amount of time, “whether in work or in our workouts”! If Nothing Is hagpeningtor your business, it is time to mmist and Make Something Happen liberty in exchange for unelected centralized control. There are solutions to the mse already in the works: 1) Call Harry Reid’s Office at 202-224-3542, and demand that he bring S. 202, the “Federal Re serve Transparency Act of2011”, to a floor vote. 2) Call your congressman and demand that they support H.R. 75: the “American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2013”, w hich is a bill to get the US out of the UN. 3) Call Senator Mitch McCo nnell’s at 202-224-2541 and tell him not to negotiate away the Senate filibuster. 4) Contact your local sheriff. Find out what his/her stance on property rights are. Support only Constitutional sheriffs for public office. 5) Get involved: Attend your local city council and planning department meetings For more information go to: iagenda21.com www.jbs.org Dan Titus HTT P WANTED Salon 49 is Looking for Licensed Hair Stylist to rent booth at Salon 49 on Hwy 49, Fort Valley Great Atmosphere Call Sharon at: 478-825-3736 478-825-0077 77 Marshal Mil\ Road, Fort Valley, GAH 030 Grts, lottery, Cold Drinks, Hot Food & Much More Mondoy -Thursday 5:00am - 9:30pm Friday-5:00am - 10:30pm Solorday 5:00 - 10:30 Sundoy ?:00 lo 9:00 pu7n Light & Heavy Duty Wreckers to Serve You!
