World Thinking Day is a day where Girl Scouts around the world gather to think about ways to help others in need. Mary Lee Irby, Development Director from the Macon Rescue Mission, was a guest speaker and spoke with the girls about what the mis sion does, its goals, and its needs. The girls learned that the mission does not receive any government support as it is a faith based organization, so donations from the community are vital to the mission’s success. The Girl Scouts brought donations of food, clothing, and non perishable items to be donated to the mission. The girls also made “Blessing Jars” filled with water and glitter. The girls made a list of the blessings in their lives, and they can shake the jar and remember their blessings as the glitter settles. Soap making was another fun activity the girls enjoyed. Every one discussed how germs are spread and the importance and proper way to wash hands. Each girl got to make and take home a jar of soap. After using their soap to wash their hands they had a healthy snack of carrots, turkey breast, and “ants on a log”. They discussed the importance of portion control and choosing healthy foods and shared their new knowledge by making posters about healthy foods and ways to help the environment by recycling and reusing. Leader Jessica Alligood and Co leaders Tara Baldwin and Dianne Mosby are so proud of the girls of troop 60675 for making a positive impact on the community and raising awareness for global needs. Upcoming Events The ICU Ministry provides hope to others in need. Handmade bags are delivered to area hos pital waiting rooms with toiletry items, magazines, etc. for the family.
