Page 2 Thursday, March 28, 2013 THE GEORGIA POST &THE BYRON BUZZ The PCHS Symphonic Band earned its sixth consecutive highest State rating of ’’Superior” performing advance/professional level band literature at the 2013 District XI GMEA State High School Band Evaluation held at the high school. The band performed three prepared selections for three state recognized adju dicators in the field of music education. This evaluation program is basically the End of Course Test (EOCT) and is sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association. However, the Peach County Board of Education voted for an August 12th start date this year. The vote was unanimous with the August start date mainly to allow schools time to offer end of course tests before winter break. School officials had sought feedback last month on whether to start in August or September. According to the survey 57% wanted school to begin in Septem ber. The ICU Ministry provides hope to others in need. Hand made bags are delivered to area hospital waiting rooms with toiletry items, magazines, etc. for the family. Items for bags are always needed. The evening featured various groups from the Peach County School System, with the purpose to provide public aware ness to the diverse forms of Fine Arts in the Peach County community. The New Perspective Team is composed of twelve Peach County High School stu dents. They are: Carina Alcantar, Martin Alcan- tar, Colton Cason, Brittany Farmer, Julia Frederick, Haley Giddens, Caitlyn Hicks, Julian Jones, Lus Morales, Payton Olgetree, Chris Poole, and Briana Warner.
