We are living in a world now where people are very mean and evil. Sometimes they will plot your downfall or even wish for your downfall but no matter what God still has great plans for life. Although, evil people may get the upper hand sometimes, God assures us that a day is coming and we must not rejoice but pray for them. He also tells us that persecution will come. I’ve come to know that you cannot please everybody. Some people will always find fault. They are so busy pointing fingers that they can’t see themselves. It’s good to laugh and talk but not put others down during the process as if you have it all together. We must first cast out the beam of thine own eyes. Personally, I don’t have time to focus on anyone’s business. I have business of my own, I’m working on my own salvation. I’m realizing that anytime someone says something bad about you they are really blessing you because the bible says,” blessed are ye, when man shall revile you. So the next time you’re tempted to point the finger or be judgmental try pointing that same finger towards yourself. We must pray for one another and help make someone’s day a little brighter. Be Blessed! Church Happenings Ask persons of Jewish ethnicity why they don’t believe in Jesus, and they will concede that Jesus was a great prophet, but not the Son of God. Since the Jewish Bible excludes the New Testament, Jews brought up in the synagogues have little or no knowledge of the Christ as taught in the gospels and the Pauline epistles. Carry your question to the rabbi and hear him infer that Christianity’s doctrine of the trinity is unacceptable to the monotheistic religion of Judaism whose overarching precept is the “Oneness of God.” As rationale, the rabbi will cite such verses as Isaiah 44:6 where the Lord declared, “I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me.” Additionally, the rabbi will embrace the Jewish position that the disciples stole Jesus’ body from the garden tomb, citing Matthew 28:13 as proof: “The disciples came by night and stole him away.” Reinforcing this claim, the rabbi might read from the “Toledot Yeshu,” quite happy. I had no explanation for this gigglely feeling of mine. I do not normally rouse myself from sleep with a chipper attitude. Just ask my wife. On second thought, don’t. I just was in such a good mood that I broke out into song, which my wife threatened to end my life if I did not stop it immediately. I did not try to psychoanalyze myself and think that perhaps this was the beginning of senility or something. I just accepted it as a great day to be alive. One of my basic philosophies of life is, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth; after all, he might have bad breath. This particular day nothing could bring me back to earth. I was all but literally dancing on the clouds and I cannot dance. But it was a good day to be alive and know it. Very nonchalantly, the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage addressed me in a rather semi-informal manner. “Would you run to the store and get me something?” Being in such a high spirit, I sang my affirmative answer to her in spite of her glaring in my direction. I did not care. I would have jumped over the moon if she had asked at the time. Lucky for me, she did not ask. Also, the Jewish Messiah would gather the people from exile, rebuild the Jewish Temple, and bring world peace, things that Jesus did not accomplish. Further, he will reason that it was unnecessary for the Messiah to be crucified, arise from the dead, and save the people from their sins in order to fulfill his mission of liberating the Jewish nation from Roman oppression. Go a step further and ask a Bible scholar why the Jews reject the New Testament. The scholar will cite “irreconcilable that something was wrong. Being in such a great mood that I was in, I shook it off and rebuked it firmly. In record time, I found the item my wife needed. Dancing and singing up the aisle, I went immediately to the checkout counter. When I got there, I found nobody there. I wish you could have been there, it was spectacular. “I heard you the first time,” the voice exploded from the back of the store. “Til get there when I get there and not a second sooner.” I smiled to myself and contradictions among the four gospels in describing the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. For example, Matthew, Mark and Luke state that Jesus was crucified on Friday while John records Thursday (“Day of Preparation before Passover Day”). Other arguments will focus on disparities in the tomb scene and varied accounts of Jesus’ appearance to the women and the disciples. For example, compare Matthew 28:1-10 with John 20:1-18. And finally, the Jewish theologian will attempt to use Paul’s words against him. Whereas Paul states, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, and you are still in your sins,” the theologian will say the resurrection never occurred and cite counterfeit religions based on God-men bom of virgins who reportedly returned from the dead, such as Romulus, Apollonius of Tyana, Drusilla, Claudius, Dionysus-Bacchus, Tammuz, Mithra, Osiris, Krishna, and Buddha. I have dreams of times when everything goes perfect. Then, I awake to the reality of the world around me. I guess everybody dreams of at least one perfect day. Last week my dream came hue... or almost. For no apparent reason I awoke from sleep feeling I was in such a good mood reminded myself that that I thought a shopping trip would be okay. Let it be known that when it comes to shopping, shopping and me go together like peanut butter and lobster tail. It was such a wonderful day and I felt so terrific I agreed to go shopping for my wife. Not that I needed a new wife, the one I have is fine, thank you. When I entered the store, I had a nagging feeling nobody was going to spoil my mood of happiness today. Then I saw her stomping up the aisle towards the cashier counter where I was waiting. If looks could kill, and I am not so sure they can’t, I would have died on the spot. I do not think steam was coming out her ears, but I am not absolutely sure about that.
