ROAD - Continued From Front Page stated that the increase did not alleviate the need for a ve hicle and that the board would provide him with the tools he needed to carry out his job and that if they did not he would not do his duties until they did. County attorney David Mincey advised O’Neal that it would be in his best interest to continue to perform his sworn duties as coroner until the issue was resolved. O’Neal agreed and stated that he had hired an attorney to help him resolve this issue. As requested by the board, after Chamber president Charles Cook came forward about the uses of transit buses, Kelly presented them with a list of trips made by the buses in the last three months. 33.5% of trips were being made for just shopping and personal trips on the buses, but Kelly could not be sure how many of these were made inside the county or outside of the county. After discussion on whether to raise bus fees for out of county shopping trips, the board tabled the matter for further research. Sheriff Walker came before the board to ask for approval to use SPLOST funds that had been set aside previously for vehicle purchases for the sher iff’s department to buy three new vehicles. He explained to the board that he would like to get a new car, an SUV and a truck. He has received quotes from several different companies, but feels that since they have worked with Bran- nen Ford in Unadilla before that he would like to stay with them. The board approved for Walker to move forward with the vehicle purchases as he saw fit. Three people have applied for the open Development Au thority position. Mathue Joiner, Troy Cook, and Christopher McIntyre have all applied for the position left vacant by Don Fitzgerald. Troy Cook was present at the commissioner’s meeting and introduced him self. He is a former resident who has recently moved back into the county. He stated that he felt his background and his desire to be active in the community would benefit the authority. EXCEPTION" - A Special Exception is the requirement that a land owner seek specific permission from the Board of Commissioners in order to use a particular parcel of property in a manner requiring such Special Exception as reflected in the various chars and tables listed throughout the CCLDR. Any such Special Exception granted will be void if not acted upon in the manner described in the request for such Special Exception within 12 months immediately following its issuance or if such use ceases for a period of 12 months following the commencement of such specifically authorized use. Proposed Definition for “VARIANCE” - A departure from any provision of this resolution for a specific parcel, except use, where such variance will not be contrary to the public interest and where, owing to conditions peculiar to the property, and not as a result of the action of the applicant, a literal enforcement of this resolution would result in unnecessary and undue hardship.
