Where the press is free and every man able to read, all is safe. — Thomas Jefferson Letters To The Editor Africa Trip Unnecessary Editor, The Georgia Post: Even without a budget, some people in the federal govern ment continue to spend money with abandon. The sequestration, which has hit many employees with furloughs, hasn’t stopped the elite. The president and his family took a trip to Africa. Along with them and their usual entou rage went all the paraphernalia required for a trip on Air Force One. Such a jaunt generally costs about $100 m. to his credit, however, the president did cancel a planned safari. Those at the highest level of government seem to think that the rules don’t apply to them; that they are above the fray; that living lavishly at the taxpayers’ expense is their privilege. Balderdash! In our fomi of government, we elect people to represent us, not to serve their own personal interests. Obama’s trip to Africa, supposedly to improve trade relations, was, at best, ill-conceived, ill-timed, and unnecessary. Robert L. I have reached the point in my life that I am no longer able to maintain the commitment to submit my article in a timely manner every week. In fairness to the Editor and com posers of your publication I will no longer submit a weekly “What does the Bible say” article. All the Georgia Post staff has been very considerate and ac commodating to me and some times my lateness in submitting my weekly article. James Earnhardt Points To Ponder - By Dr. Harold Pease Should the patriots once again have ability to rewrite the Dec laration of Independence what would they say? How might it be different? Many have asked, “Is it time to restate the obvious? We have lost much of our liberty, as they had, from their elected government.” There is no reason to believe that the committee, headed by Thomas Jefferson, would retract the base for the right of revolu tion from “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God”—defi nitely a higher level than mere man. Nor is there any reason to believe that they would retract “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Nor the right of revolution when all other means are exhausted, as they had, which is so eloquently stated in the remainder of the second paragraph. So we would expect them to retain the means of making revolution—the right to bear amis. What is, however, perplex ing is how many of the listed oppressions—the causes of the American Revolution—have returned in our day. Jefferson targeted the King for the oppres sions but Parliament, an elected body, was actually responsible for most of them as is Congress in our day. These include: “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.” This would be our unelected federal bureaucracy today, 2.8 million strong. The $50 million for IRS parties and $70 million for IRS bonuses in 2013 come to mind. We have yet to hire the 16,000 new folks to administer our socialized medicine (Obamacare) programs, yet another enomious swami “to eat out our substance.” These officers live off the wealth produced by others. The recently passed National Defense Authorization Act legalizes military kidnapping of American citizens thought by the President and military to be “terrorist” and shipped to Guan tanamo Bay and detained without trial indefinitely. Civil power was/is told to be secondary or non-existent in these examples. “For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.” Anytime a president offers money to a foreign country by way of treaty, as did President Jimmy Carter in the Panama Canal Treaty, he is taxing us without our consent. Only the House of Representa tives, which is excluded from treaty making, can raise a bill of revenue. That is one thing that is great about our country, at least at this present moment, you can still voice your opinion without fear of repercussion. Of course, ”big brother” is watching and reading our messages! I am greatly bothered by how other countries view America today In some circles we have become a great laughing stock. I also cry about how far we have fallen and I pray for our country and its leaders regularly Things will only change when, we the people, stand united and refuse to be quieted by the threats of government. Someone recently emailed me something about what Canada thinks of our country and sadly a lot of other coun tries think the same thing. It was titled Canadian’s version of David Letterman’s Top 10 which indictes they think we are idiots. Here it is: Only in Ameri ca... 10. Could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 per plate campaign fund raising event. 9. Could people claim the government still discirimi- nates against black Americans when there is a black Presi dent, a black attorney general and roughly 20% of the fed eral workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black; 40% of all entitlements go to black Americans (3x the rate that goes to Caucasians and 5x the rate which goes to Hispanics). 8. Could they have had the two people most responsible for the tax code, Timothy Geithner (Treasury Dept, head) and Charles Rangel (former Ways and Means Committee) BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes. 7. Can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslins might be harmed by the backlash. 6. Would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just ’’magi cally” become American citizens. 5. Could the people who be lieve in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution, be thought of as ’’extremists”. 4. Yes, some harsh words from our North American neigh bors, but there is much truth to be found unfortunately This July 4th, let us reflect on what made our country so great and how we can get it back on the right track. Big government is not the answer and for the moment we are still a goverment for and by the people! Reflect on America’s beauty and those who paid for our freedom with their lives. How My DNA Can Make Me Look Older or Younger Our DNA “inside our cells” holds the blue print for how we look in the future, and it’s largely up to us whether it’s a gradual or rapid appearance of aging. Part of the reason this is so intriguing to me is that we can strengthen the blueprint through common healthy habits done with consis tency “Our DNA is inside each of our cells just like a memory bank or computer that holds a copy of instruc tions on how to continue to build replicas of itself.” When we think of the fact that our body is made up of several trillion cells and that these cells have DNA inside each of them that instructs how the next cell generation is made, it becomes more important to us, to not do things to our body that mess up these instructions, “which pretty much happens every year to build the several trillion new generation of cells!” This involves, bone cells, heart cells, lung cells, skin cells, and all the cells that give the elasticity and shape to our body! Bad habits to our body are a lot like a bad environment in a kitchen where a recipe is exposed to these conditions and though the recipe gets hard to read, you still have to prepare the recipe the best you can, “very likely the outcome will not taste or look like it was originally supposed to.” When we breathe in smoke and other pollutants “instead of clean oxygen,” drink fluids filled with processed sugars, phosphoric acid and caffeine, “instead of good clean water,” eat processed foods made inside a plant “instead of from a plant,” get caffeinated instead of rest and rejuvenation and then top it off by staying out of the sun as if we’re vampires and think it better to take laboratory produced vitamin D”- we give our DNA no choice but to build a more sickly generation of cells, “causing what we see as premature aging or diag nosed as one of the chronic diseases.” By the way taking vitamin D supplementation, in my opinion is good, but taking it to completely replace the sun and your natural produc tion of vitamin D is not. Good habits on the other hand will not only protect the DNA, but will also fuel the DNA with good nutrients to produce a healthier gen eration of replicas, “helping avoid the appearance of rapid aging.” The neat thing is that even a person that has had years of bad habits can start turn ing this around by practicing basic healthy habits, “this is why someone can look years younger then they used to years earlier.” Diet: keeping plenty of fruits and vegetables in our diet will help us get the daily antioxidants to get rid of the oxidation that otherwise will build up in our body. Oxida tion is what causes rusting on a scratched vehicle and will have a similar effect on our cells causing our DNA to give out mixed signals on how to build the next generation of cells, “causing our appearance to begin to change.” Water, exercise and sweat, helps our body push out the toxins that build up in our body assisting our body’s elimination process. When our body only gets to elimi nate these toxins through urination and feces, the chances go up that they will build up in our body causing premature aging and degen erative disease.
