I am alternately amazed, bewildered, incensed, embar rassed, and disillusioned by the ’’terminologies” coming down the pike; and especially when the hypocritical slant enters the twisted equations. Every single day, the quo rum for citizens (in Sports, in News, in Government, Schools, in the Courtroom, on the street, and in the market place—is liberally spiced with every known phrase of profanity, sarcasm, filth, innuendo, and blasphemy- -permitted, proclaimed, and promoted, all while those same voices which ring like thunder to discredit even the slightest violation, or er ror; are guilty of a similar or more serious violation. I mention only one instance, Paula Deen—who confessed (and apologized) for un thoughtful application—and the absolute war that has ema nated from the incident which happened years ago!! Let me make myself clear!! I am not one who is attached to profane babblings, nor am I disrespectful to any race, color, or creed. I don’t own a Paula Deen cookbook— and the language she uses on occasion is absolutely ’’out of the park”! Such utilization, by her, or anyone else, shows lack of respect for humanity, is tacky, and is indicative of poor communicable skills. Since I am a bom again Chris tian, and Minister of the Glo rious Gospel, the utilization of such terms does not come into play ”in my comer”! These crude and senseless terms, used by anyone in ’’earshot”, leaves a distaste, but to label Paula’s offense ”a Dunkirk”- and proceed with crucifixion- -has little justification! But hear this!! While I le gitimately condemn such us age, and would rather not hear the ’’chatter”; there are two distinct presentations which I will lend to all readers: First of all, I have long realized that my words, influence, or wishes-even my prayer- will not change the indecent approach that many people choose to use on any given day!! Secondly, (while their applications through phrase are despicable, and will be judged by competent author ity), the ”sky is not falling”- -and I will not capitulate, or Daniel W. Gatlyn, USNRet., Minister/ Journalist forcefully correct those who insist on being indiscreet. I found a perfect way to face these adverse values without embracing an ulcer, or cardiac arrest. I am approaching 84 years on this planet, so some of my ’’fix” for these troubling times is working! To put it simply, I GREW UP! (The implication is obvious!) With a fist full of recent edicts which furnish ’’the grumpies” with legal re course, it may well be that some will exit litigation with ”a dollar” (or more)! But know this: What goes around, will surely come around!! And if those who ”blow a lid” at someone’s improper rendering, are they themselves guilty of a constant discourse of ’’rancidity”—reckoning time is just around the cor ner! Take it to the bank!
