WITNESS, the Honorable Judges of this court, this 9th day of July, 2013. AMANDA ROGERS, DEPUTY CLERK, CRAWFORD COUINTY JUVENILE COURT (7-17) 7/18-8/8-KENT CRIME From Page 4 degree. I watched a great many hard working and brilliant students unable to swing the financial burden to attend law school. I don’t ever want to know how much my nephew’s law degree cost my sister. Em taking measures now to plan for my granddaughter’s tuition in college. Incarceration, more than anything, protects the citizenry from crime and the criminals that commit them. Protect the citizenry from the perpetually anti-social. I’m unaware a single penal system with unconscionably high recidivism isn’t the norm. Yet we have people obtaining law degrees on our dollar. The expression used to be on our dime, remember? Well those days are gone. And this foolish ness is one of the reasons why. We’re spending an awful lot of money to buy privileges for the non-productive and dangerous. Correct me if I’m wrong but, didn’t the farmers in Georgia have a shortage of farm labor this season? Eliminate plea bargaining and good behavior releases. Sentencing sticks. If someone is sentenced to 15 years the incarceration will be 15 years. Let prisoners rehabilitate them selves. They’re in prison for punishment for a crime com mitted. Why are prisoners able to earn law degrees on our dime when hard working children from hard working families aren’t able to do so? Make prisoners work for their keep. I’ve gotta get these things down somewhere and who knows, perhaps others will get on board and we’ll have a group of people prepared to act in their very own rational self- interest. The only thing I’d add to this very succinct exposition of one man’s solution to our penal system. Make certain the same accommodations are what the white-collar crimes receive. They’re the ones that did more than take my purse. These are the people who hijacked my savings. The financial collapse and real property melt-down was not orchestrated by middle income and the poor working people folks.
