It may come as a surprise to many, that religion finds more than ’’honorable men tion” in the perspectives of War; but as the scales of skirmish are approached, the cast for theological per suasion is found in almost every battle since day one. In fact, the trio of atheists, monotheists, and polythe ists have been at odds over conviction, direction, and proliferation from the ’’gar den to graduation”. While peace activists are to be substantially applaud ed, each must live with the fact that even the Creator ordered men to fight on numerous occasions. It is tragic that humanity has also opened and closed many personal doors to conflict. No one should take this script as validation for in cursion of Christians upon fellow citizens; yet it is a fact that they are also inhabit ants of planet earth, and as such, have not only the privilege, but the distinct obligation, to safeguard their revelations and life style of a moral stance. This is precisely what has run counter to the throng with no virtuous goals! And what has left thousands (even millionsl dead over the centuries! Multi tudes were thrown to The’G’ Factor Daniel W. Gatlyn the beasts, burned at the stake, beheaded, merci lessly dis membered before cheering spectators; judiciously proclaiming that all was done in the name of Religion! Animism and mysticism have motivated millions to hideous acts that were far removed from any compas sionate touch, or virtuous pursuits. Obviously, all discussion quickly turns to the ques tion of who is right, and who is wrong. That debate may never end, for there exists draw some very fine lines as to spiritual finesse! But such proclamation should never give space to a philosophy that escapes sensibility. The basic fact that man is essentially evil, and that he should somehow find a course for restoration, must forever motivate and stimulate all faculty to search for that place. Christianity offers the only hope for the removal of sin! The price has been paid! There is no ’’free lunch”! The twenty first century is plagued with ’’instance and innuendo” of religious involvement (from Bos ton to the backside of the world), both on and off the battlefield, and it is sad that men, women and innocent victims continue to die be cause of such. The picture is not likely to change! In this dispensation of Grace—I would counsel all to shun any religion which advocates indiscriminate murder or mayhem.
