Dorsey, Knowles In run-off for Byron Council seat As is usually the case when you have more than two people running for a political office, there will be a run-off for Post 5 in Byron. Incumbent Mark Waters was challenged by Byronite Alan Dorsey and fairly new comer to the community Rick Knowles. Waters received 87 votes while Dorsey received 146 and Knowles 132, putting Dorsey and Knowles in a runoff. The runoff will be held December 3, 2013. Michael Chumbley and Michael Chidester were also up for re-election but neither seats were challenged so these two return to Byron City Council. Chumblery received 250 votes and Chidester 253. Of the 3193 registered vot ers 371 voted in this election, or 11.6%. Lots of family, friends and well wishers were on hand for the opening. The Byron Rotary Club sponsors a Halloween Costume Contest each year prior to the Nightmare on Main Street downtown.
