CALL AIM 877-205-2968 PCHS choir joins Clafin University Choir Tuesday, October 22nd, Dr. Isaiah McGee and the Clatlin University Concert Choir visited Peach County High School! Organized by Mr. Quahnkat- iere Marshall, PCHS Choir Director, and Dr. Isaiah McGee, Chair of the Clatlin University Music Department and Concert Choir, the choir workshop aspires to be the first in an annual partnership between the programs. Having traveled as far as China for celebrations of the Beijing Olympics, the Claflin University Concert Choir is world renown for its sound and prestigious tradition. Students enjoyed a display of unparalleled choral technique, musicality, repertoire, and academic prowess. The PCHS choir began by singing a few selections for Dr. McGee and Claflin’s choral students, and then Claflin proceeded, giving an astonishing concert for PCHS’s choral music department. Following their last selection, Dr. McGee and the choir circled around our students, and lead a question-and-answer session outlining collegiate expectations, requirements, and experiences for choir students. Dr. McGee also took applications from all Senior choir students, while graciously waiving application fees! On December 3,2013, the Peach County High School Choir will travel to Orangeburg, South Carolina to join Claflin University in singing the Messiah Oratorio, in an effort to further educate and expose our students, while continuing our relationship with collegiate choral programs. Endless holiday controversy It never ends! The eternal challenge for an audience, with a personal viewpoint as to the ’’rights and wrongs” surrounding National Holi days. Liberals and agnostics paint the gloomiest picture possible, for those with viable proof of virtuous pur suits. All this while throngs in the ecclesiastical circle respond with their best shot- —oft times void of any real wisdom or diplomacy! Here we are, in early November; and already ’’the media of madness” has declared war (once again) on the Christ mas Holiday. There exists no founda tional ’’stones” to lend cred ibility to such thunder—but people without hope need no basis for senseless agitation. It appears they arise each morning searching for some manner in which to make life listless and miserable. To mount destruction toward the Christmas Message and Spirit; is as wretched as one will ever be! And in the finale, it changes no basic tenets —it merely introduces discomfort in all directions. When year’s end traditional holidays draw closer on the calendar—a host of people can’t wait to emanate skir mish. For those who vow opposition to anything sacred—it is an abomination! And for those who cherish a spiri tual stance, it is tacky, and a waste to spend precious time defending personal convic tions in the most explosive manner. The Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ, if success is to be realized, must always be presented with wisdom, with love, and with diplomacy. And don’t forget—we are obligated to ’’stick to the script”—not what has been (erroneously) portrayed by a lot of well meaning people! Perhaps, I should pause to inform all readers, that I have been a born again Christian for over 50 years! I have been in active ministry for most of those years—and have filled theological leadership—na tionally and glob ally. I have made numerous mistakes; and I never claim to be without error. I concur on a Cre ation by Intelligent Design; the disingenuous failure of humanity, a Redemption through Christ as Saviour; and Eternal Life for those who adhere! But I cannot- -must not—try to force ”my way or His Way” on periph eral congregants. They must come by an understanding of vital issues; and embrace such from a ’’free will”. Winning and leading souls in righteousness requires the best we have to offer- —charity, strategy, wisdom, knowledge—and a good grasp of practicality! Not much is required to ’’join the choir”—but if you will be found in Leadership, you will have to shun the destructive, non productive, distractions that come down the pike!! Come on! Get a life!! We are called to a higher cause than simply ’’punching holes” in someone’s flawed behavior. There will always be a mass of heretical personalities- -and more who do not meet with our approval!!
