They took the stage on Friday, October 11 where over 40 7th and 8th grade students performed various music that included: The Star Spangled Banner, hits from Bruno Mars, Adele and many more! Dmcr The 6th grade beginning chorus students have been working hard in the classroom also. They are granted the opportunity for participation in the GMEA 6th Grade Statewide Honor cho rus. The purpose of 6th Grade Statewide Honor Chorus is to provide selected students with the opportunity to work with other students of equal caliber under the direction of highly qualified master conductors and musicians. Selection to Sixth Grade Statewide Honor Chorus recognizes excellence in musical knowledge, technique and interpretation. After a classroom audition and careful selection, we’re pleased to announce: Front row: Kiya Trussed, Tysun McGhee, Abi- gale Matthews have been selected as the top 3 students to participate! Back Row: Madison Carmichael, Rebecca Carter and Heather Dougherty have been selected as alternates. On October 12, the BMS and PCHS choir member loaded the bus and travelled to Cordele, GA to audition for the Geor gia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All State chorus. The All-State Choruses are highly select groups of choral students from Georgia’s 7th-12th grade students who are brought together for the purposes of rehearsing and per forming selected music with guest conductors. Over 8,000 students audition for this prestige event that is held annually, but only 1800 middle and high school students are selected. Ms. Dent feels many students from BMS have scores that are looking very promising but final results are not yet in. The Byron Middle School chorus, under the direction of Ms. Brandi Dent, has had their work cut out for them this fall! They began earlier in September by partnering with FatZ in Warner Robins, GA to host a pancake breakfast. They began early one Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and served breakfast until 10:30 a.m. They served over 150 guests and were able to raise enough money to fund music for their upcoming con cert in December.
