While searching for a location, the produc ers contacted Patti Temple at the Roberta Crawford Chamber of Commerce. She found them a location and the group was torn be tween a location in Marshallville and the one in Musella. Musella won out and the film has been under production for over a month now and is winding down. Corey Dinkins of Warner Robins is the di rector and Renee Alday is the producer and assistant director. Dinkins began his love for acting at Northside High School and says he is first and foremost an actor. This produc tion is his debut as a director. He also wrote the mini feature film. Alday worked on another project with Dinkins and he asked her to join him on other projects. This is their seventh project. Alday says she is used to being back stage as a stage manager or doing makeup, hair or wardrobe. She first began her desire to direct and product through Warner Robins Little Theatre and her church. Dinkins’ wife, Amy, also helps out with story ideas and with support, said Corey. As the name might suggest, Halows Eve is about Halloween. Jake, played by C. J. Allen, encourages his reluctant girlfriend Marty (Elizabeth Warren) and his roomates Pete (Darius Harris) and Allison (Holly Thom as) to stay at an abandoned house that has been deemed haunted by the inhabitants who were murdered there three years ago. What seems as an innocent prank, turns into a bloody Halloween trick or treat. As the night grows longer, the four teens start to encounter dark forces that threaten their very existence. Now they must come togeth er and fight for their lives. This will surely be a Halloween they will never forget. Once wrapped up, the film of course will be edited and them submitted to film festivals in Macon, Savannah, Atlanta and elsewhere. From there MorningStar will seek distributors (Red Box, Net Flix, etc.) Could Musella be the next big location for films? Time will only tell. Flint River Communications wins Mass Media Award Reynolds, GA - On No vember 5, 2013 Flint River Communications’ Local Watch 14 was the award ed the GACAA 2013 Mass Media Award at the Annual Banquet for the Georgia As sociation of County Agricul tural Agents at Lake Lanier, Georgia. This award was presented to James (Jim) L. Bond, President of Flint Riv er Communications for the outstanding performance and support of Georgia Agri culture. Jeff Cook, County Exten sion coordinator, nominated Flint River Communications for the ongoing support and contribution to the local tele vision program “Back Yard Basics” that currently airs on Flint River Communications’ Local Watch, Channel 14. A person of interest has come forth in the accident. The incident continues to be under investigation by the Georgia State patrol and Crawford County Sheriff s Office. More information will be provided as it becomes available. BoE financial officer leaving This month’s Crawford County Board of Education meeting was the last one for Sharon Craft who has been the district’s financial officer for the past several years. One of Crafts’ responsibilities has been to show the board where all the money is spent for the regular day to day expenses, workman’s comp, salaries, distribution of SPLOST funds and any other funds. The district will be assigning the position to another person in the near future. Superintendent John Douglas told Craft how much they all appreciate her and all her hard work. Craft will still be a consultant for the district. In the past few months the district has obtained three new buses, one of which was a special education bus that was ordered last year and was paid for out of last year’s bond money, and two new stan dard buses from this year’s bond fund. Several school safety camer as had to be replaced as well. Title I funds have been spent setting up a parent center inside the boardroom of the Board of Education which will hold open house tonight (Nov. 21 from 5-7 p.m.). Pottery Festival held The Merritt Pottery Festival was this past Saturday at CCHS practice gym. If you did not attend you missed an array of vendors with pottery, art and more. Medical Complex only delayed not dropped The rumor mill has been in full swing lately with many false statements being made around town. Let’s put another one to rest with this announcement from Flint Professional Group, LLC. “The Milford B. Hatcher, MD, Medical Complex and Hydrangea Senior Living project is con tinuing to move forward, but has temporarily been delayed.” Updates will follow as soon as there is something to report. Progress of Crawford schools getting recognition Crawford County Middle School and Crawford County High School have been identified by the Georgia Department of Education as a 2014 Title 1 Reward School. This distinction includes a certif icate of recognition, a flag and plaque to display. According to Margo K. DeLaune, Title Programs Director for the Ga DOE, all Title 1 Reward Schools serve as models for schools with similar demographics and may be contacted by other school districts for information or site visits. “We commend your efforts to meet the needs of your students and provide them with a quality school program,” DeLaune stated in the announcement letter. The system also received a letter from John D. Barge, State School Superin tendent congratulating them as a Tide 1 Distinguished School. Principals of the schools will receive a certificate. Barge stated, “These schools have cast aside la bels and created schools that are focused on student excellence and building strong communities. I know that you and your staff will not be satisfied until every stu dent is succeeding at the highest levels in all areas. Thank you for all the hard work, long hours and teachable moments.” RCCCOC awards ribbons for contest A reception was held last Thursday for winners in the Walk of the Scarecrows in Roberta-Crawford County by the Chamber of Com merce. Winners were presented with unique handmade ribbons. On hand were Wendy and Kaleb West for the West family, Louiz Ramirez representing Hudson’s BBQ, Erica O’Neal for Citizens State Bank who received a ribbon for creativity, Victoria Simmons of The Georgia Post, Robin Harris of Hartley State Farm Insurance and Trenesia Stubbs of the Korean Martial Arts Academy.
