I in my kerchief and mother in her cap had just settled down for our long winters nap....” The Roberta Crawford County Chamber of Com merce is sponsoring a celebration of An Old-Fash ioned Christmas in Roberta December 7th, this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. To begin the festivities ven dors will be on the Historic Square in Roberta from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. offering hand crafted items, Hope Chest and Counseling Center Bak ery, informational booths, and organization booths. Don’t forget about shopping as well in all of Roberta with shopkeepers ready to serve up a cup of joyful service in a hometown setting. Your chamber will be open all day to offer hot beverages and cookies. The Chamber wants you to celebrate the businesses in Roberta a sec ond time this year, honoring them as “Support Small Business” shop at home first. Roberta/Crawford has it all and at comparatively low prices, from boots to lumber, toys to clothing and tools to cars and more! Pictures with Santa are available from 12 noon -3 p.m. in the park at the Pavilion. You will be able to take home some and order photos with Santa. Masons will provide extra celebratory favors. This year’s Christmas Parade will feature many organizations, churches and businesses will be staged at 4 p.m. traveling from the Recycle Center down Wright Street to Crueselle and returning to the Recycle Center by way of Mathews Street. Over 30 entries and many special guests join the parade which is guaranteed to please children of all ages! Then, by people’s choice a 1st , 2nd and 3rd place float will be awarded with gifts. Vote at the chamber office. A joyful welcome at 5 p.m. will be given from Roberta Crawford County Chamber of Commerce President Charles Cook as the evening program begins. Reverend Wright from the Pleasant Grove Church will offer the invocation followed by the Pleasant Grove Church Adult Choir with sounds of Christ mas. This will be followed by an abbreviated portion of the Biblical reading of the Christmas Story provided by Amy Lewis Ryals. She will follow up the reading with her rendition and solo performance of “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem,” leading in to the performance of the Roberta Evangelistic Church of the Nativity Play to begin at 5:45- Everyone will then return to the Chamber office veran- On the move Marcus Clayton, #10, for the CCMS Eagles makes his move on the floor. Next, who on the lawn of the park should appear but the jolly old elf himself, Santa, to delight the children with candy canes and hear their wishes for Christmas to come on December 25, 2013. Giving back for Thanksgiving Cerese Independent Church of Musella, hosted a Thanksgiv ing dinner last week for folks in the community, who might not otherwise have Thanksgiving. This is an annual event for the church and this year they fed 136 people at the cafeteria of the elementary school. Samuel Chester is the pastor. The church is located on Hopewell Road, Musella. The pastor says this is a way for them to give back to the community.
