Our present outlook on the popular holiday is little more than travel, eating and drinking, celebrating the hours away from the workplace — and shopping for ’’more of every thing”! But surely you know, that this special date on the calendar, was set aside to remember ’’from whence we came”! All too often, we take for granted the liberties and charities which have been wrought—and bought, if you will — first by the Creator, and perpetuated by thought ful individuals. Indeed, all Americans should give observance and space to the abundant portions of Grace and Mercy bestowed upon us. While every week should be one of appreciation, our gratitude should have spiraled to unprecedented heights on this holiday of ’’un merited favor”. If this mention of a momentous occasion seems trite, I beg of you to consider the innumerable items of ’’safety, sanity, and survival” that have been deposited at your abode. For those who have viewed the inadequacies of ’’third world”, we are made to know that every citizen of this nation should revel over the inordinate quality of life afforded our direction!! We have been showered with convenience, opportuni ty, food and raiment — and freedoms unsurpassed. Our very foundations have been saturated with the virtuous legacy of Almighty God, and accentuated by wise and knowledgeable servants of humanity. We have been made recipients of heaven’s best! With all our flaws, blemish, and error,( and we do have many) America is still the greatest country in the world! And that fact remains because, tradition ally, we have for centuries, placed morality and virtue as priorities in all pursuits — and have attributed the emanation of such to the Creator of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As long as America clings to the Scriptural account of values, there will be an ample supply of success and greatness! And all should be reminded, that to forget the ’’voyage and voice” of an Omniscient Redeemer, is to forfeit the standard of excellence. In our quest for continued peace and progress, let all those who has breath, give credence to both God, and to the countless members of our Armed Forces;,who will ingly confront all enemies; ( both foreign and domestic); and find no place for retreat! Thanksgiving 2013, should be an inspiring and unforget table experience of gratitude for family, for friends, and for our faith!
