CCMS wrestling team to take part in Athens Christian Junior Eagle Wrestling Invitational The Crawford County Middle School wrestling team travel to Athens on Saturday, December 7, to take part in the Athens Christian Junior Eagle Wrestling Invitational. They were fifteen teams involved in the event in cluding many teams from the North Georgia and the Atlanta area. Although shorthanded due to inju ries and other issues, the team placed 5th over all and just three points out of trophy placement. This is a very good showing against some of the best middle school wrestling teams from the North Georgia and Atlanta area. Many Eagle wrestlers medaled on the day. The top four wrestlers from each weight class received medals. There can be as many as sixteen wrestlers in each weight class and placing top four is an achievement in itself. Fourth place wres tlers for the Eagle wres tlers were Jared Bryant, Preston McKelvey and Brandon Donaldson. Third place winners on the day were Chase McCarthy, Tristan Prater and JaMor- ris Pickard. The big winner on the day was Matthew Barrajas as he dominated the 112 pound weight class and finished with the gold medal. Matthew is unde feated on the season with a 14-0 start and two tourna ment wins on the year. Overall, a real good day for the middle school wrestling team. The Eagle will be having a home match on Friday, Decem ber 13 at the elementary school gym starting at 4:45 pm. Pike County will be the opponent. Come out and support Eagle Middle School Wrestling.
