Demonstrations
on new voting
equipment are
available to you
BY KRISTI WATKINS
The Georgia Post
Crawford County Board
of Elections is holding a
demonstration for voters in
Crawford County on the new
equipment being used for
the March 24th election.
Brenda Peacock, Elections
Supervisor for Crawford
County, is holding demon
strations for voters through
January 31st at the Crawford
County Government Com
plex in the Elections Office.
The new system is fairly
simple. Peacock stated there
would be more poll workers
on site at the precincts to
ensure the process moves
smoothly.
The process for the voter
is to show their identifica
tion and sign in to the Poll
Pad (tablet) where the Poll
Pad will create an electronic
voter card. Once the card is
created, the voter will place
the card in the next ma
chine.
The ballot will then be
shown on the screen for
voters. Voters will then vote
for the candidate of choice.
Voters can review their bal
lots cast on the screen where
the machine will direct the
voter to print the ballot. This
gives the voter the option of
reviewing their ballot before
ballot is cast.
If the voter notices the
paper ballot has an error be
fore it is locked in place, the
voter will start the process
from the beginning.
Once the voter has
reviewed the ballot and
accepts the printed ballot,
the voter will then place the
printed ballot into the ma
chine that looks like a print
er/scanner. The machine
will then scan the barcode
and lock the printed ballot.
Peacock stated there are
many misconceptions about
the voter leaving the facility
What is the state flower? (Vote for One)

Mrs. Brenda Peacock, Crawford County Elections Supervisor,
demonstrates how the new voting equipment will work. It
will be in use for the upcoming primaries and the rest of the
time. Demonstrations are available to citizens at her office
as well. You will get to review a printed ballot but you cannot
take the ballot with you.

with paper in hand, but it is
not true. The paper ballot
will be locked in the machine
until the poll workers at each
precinct remove the locked
ballots into a secured locked
box and will then be taken
to the Elections Office for a
final count.
Once at the Elections
Office, the ballots will be
removed from the secured
locked box and fed into
another machine for the
printed ballots to be tallied.
A representative from
Dominion (new equipment
company) will be in each
Georgia county during the
election to make sure things
run smoothly with the new
equipment throughout the
state.
To register for the upcom
ing Presidential Preference
Primary, you must register
prior to February 24, 2020.
