These are political time*, when democrat* cannot afford to com- jiroiniae their faith in the slightest degree. Those wlio are not for dpm- .ooruoy are encinie* and should be treated as such. It is the policy of the republican parly in the South to tuck on to ev ery movement that give* promise of it disruption of the democratic party. ’Tlml's' why Georgia republicans are itll siicli warm third partyltcs. The Oa/.httk agrees with the Gordon Press, relative to the presi dential njiniimtlon, “It is neither good policy nor good democracy to vllllfy one staiineh democrat in or der to boost the pronpcoti of another. This limy he true of Mr. Humphries’ narrow hniliwiok but— south Georgia is rather a larger scope of country than thu Hop. 11. evi dently thinks it is when he ventures to speak for It. Thu fame of the Uakkttk us ii model country newspaper Ims gone abroad, fur und wide, mid excliuugo propositions are coming in from bretlirun in every portion of Nori.li and Mouth Oarollim, Georgia, Klori- .da slid Alabama. Under the act of 1878 the board of jury commissioners is comprised of six persons appointed by the judge of tlio sujicrior court. The work of revising occurs biennially on the first Monday in August or within thirty days thereafter. The olerk of tlio Superior Court acts us clerk of thu board of commissioners. It is true, us stated last week, there is no difference in the qualifl- lion of grand und petit jurors, hut they are kept in different boxes. The luw requires the jury com missioners, in making the revision, “to Kcicot from the books of the tax receiver upright und intelligent men to serve aa jurors, and shall write the iiniucs of Much persons so select ed on tickets.” From the jiersons thus selected the jury commission ers aro required to select “u sulli- uieut number, not exceeding two- fifths of Ilia whole number, of the most experienced, intelligent und upright men, to serve as grand jti- ■ors,” und these uru placed in the grand jury box. The remaining names are placed in the petit jury box. Then, under this law governing the revising of the jury boxes, tlio Gazuttk can explain the complaint —that tlio names of persona who served as grand jurors in tlio spring term of 181)0 urc tailed in the spring of 1802 to serve us petit jurors—in but one way, tlio jury commissioners have changed their minds us to the fitness of these persons to serve us grand jurors. From ux-Olork Goodman trie O.v- /.BTTB learns that at the last revis ion one Uiotisiuiil Hallies were select ed from the hooka of the lax re ceiver—four hundred of these were selected us grand jurors, imd I he re maining six hundred for petit ju rors. Tills explains why tile names of persons who served on the jury in IHIIO are not in the jury box now— the thousand names were selected Is fore their names wore readied. The Gaxkttk is not prepared to explain why the commissioners lim ited the number of persons subject to jury duty to one thousand, Silfo mill Hellalilo. “In buying a cough medicine for dill drou," says II. A. Walker, a prominent druggist of Ogdon, Ulsli, "iievor ho afraid to buy Ohnmliorlaltt'a Oougli lloni- ody, Tliuru Is no danger from It, and r.dluf In alv .ys suru la follow I Pintle- daily recommend Olinmlierlaln's be- e.UUHU 1 have found it tu ho safe and rolluldu.” 1W mid r,0 cent bottles for sale by tlio Tifton Drug Store, and Pe ters A llelnte, Cecil. Tlio ,1 itry |,lata. Just how a democrat cun follow the lead of 0. (J. Post Into tlio tim'd party camp is truly mystify ing. He is a deep dyed-in-the-wool republican, always was and always will be; lie came to Georgia six years ago it republican, luw voted the republican tic.tet ever since; there is no disguising the fact that Ids piesout efforts arc in behalf of the republican party. .Should lie succeed in demoralising thu dpmcc- raoy of .Georgia thu national repub lican ,committee will reward him with u fut oiUco, if not a round mull of money. His advocacy of the third pwly means much for Post, blit very little to the democrats who follow his lead.
