they worship. This is not for the

can party) but for the bonefit of good
honest democrats who are being de
ceived so badly and urged to vote
with tins aid society. These letters
arc from men of unimpeachable char
acters, nnd Van beheaid from by any

of Gen. Weaver's conduct while in
charge at Pulaski,.Tenn., I wrote to the
clerk of the county court for cither aver-
illcution of denial of the charges. 1 re
ceived the letter which I Bend you.

regard to the acts Gen. Weaver while In
command of this plaeu was handed tb me
to answer. I was between 15 nud 10 years
old when Woavdravits hero, and I know
whereof 1-write, and in support of what
1 shall write, I refer to a few cltptens of

The said West er seemed to have a per
fect hatred for the southern people, lie
pillaged, robbed, pbrsecufed, vllliled ami
nbused our people in every imaginable

Ho had citizens arrested and impris
oned on trumped up charges, and made
them pay to be released, lie made the
friends of I). K. Cox pay $300 for Ills ro
lease. .Mr, Cox is dead, but Ills son, Ed
it. Cox, is llviug here, and can testily to
said facts. So can .Major .1. M, Stacey
Mid Col. 8. E. iloso, friends of Cox who
S aid part of the money, lie robbed Mr.
uper Cox of *2,990 worth of spun
thread. Jasper Cox is a reliable citizen
of this county, and now lives near Ho-
fieiihatn, Giles county, Tenn.
He robbed John P. Williams, an old
and tollable farmer and soldier of the
Mexican war, of all bis hogs and meat.

for his release, hut after lie found out
Hint the Doctor would not pay It turned
him loose. The Doctor Is now living
end will answer any letter. On January

pay him the sums opposite their names.

after a talk by Prof. Guilliams, tlio
institute adjourned sine die.
This is the last meeting of tho in-
stltuto for this year and was well at
tended.' AI1 tho teachers seemed
ready to say that it was beyond a
doubt a success, nnd each felt bene
fited for having attended. Wo hope
to have tlio institute again next year.

tion relative thereto, and the G.v-

of the many who'nro entitled to pen
sions under tlio act. With this in
formation at liana tlio beneficiaries
will hove no trouble in establishing
their identity and tlie fact that they
served in one or nil of thoso wars;

competent person to make out two full
and complete lists of tho soldiers who
wuru enlisted and served in wlml was
known ns the Crook Indian war.

lists, and the governor w»b directed by
the legislative resolution to lllo one of
