j Jn Memoriam
To the Worshipful Master and
Wardens and Brethern of Temple
Lodge No .327.
We your Memorial committee ask
to submit the following, whereas
God in his providence and wisdom
has again premitted the grim reaper
to invade our Lodge and take from
our ranks our beloved brother, L, M.
Spake, his removal is but another
evidence to us that all flesh is as
grass and as the flowers of grass,
for like a shadow it soon vanisheth
away.
While his remains have been de
posited in the grave we do not re
gard the grave is his home, but
when we look {as his home, by an
eye of faith we look far far away,
far beyond the starry skies.
Bro Spake was born in Shelby N.
C. in 1855 and came to Carroll
County when a young man about
twenty years old and married about
two years later, he was a faithful
membr of Concord Methodist Church
for about 30 years.
Bro. Spake was ever ready to ad
minister to the sick, or those in dis-
tess and he never had any thing to
good for his neighbors.
He was raised to the sublime de
gree of Master Mason March 4th
1905 and died on Oct. 26th 1910.
He leaves a loving companion and
several children with other relatives
anti friends to mourn his loss, but
we trust our loss is his eternal gain.
Therefore lie is resolved first that
we bow with reverence to the divine
will of him who doeth all things
well and maketh no mistake.
Second that we extend to his be
reaved companion and children our
sincere condolence, and commend
them to the care and protection of
him who hath said whosoever com-
meth unto me I will in no wise cast
out, and who giveth to all freely and
and upbraideth not.
Third that a copy of this resolu
tions be recorded in the archieves of
our Lodge, and a copy be furnished
the companion of our deceased
brother and that the same be pub
lished in our County papers.

Christmas Pleasures j
One of the most pleasant occas- J
sions of the Christmas comingjour
^vay, was the gathering of the large
audience at the Bowdon College
hall where the Sunday Softools of I
the different Churches of Bowdon j
united in arranging and presenting ;
one of the most beautiful trees, (or !
rather two trees,) that it has been !
our pleasure to witness in a long
while, and one of its most beau
tiful features consisted in the liber
al and beneficent effort made to re
cognize every one in all that excel
lent community in the distribution
of the many valuable presents
given. The object of this being two
fold, first, to encourage all the child
ren that have been so constant in
attendance, at Sunday School, and,
second, as an earnest plea to those
who have not, to come and unite
with them in the delightful work of
the Sunday School.
, The whole occasion passed off
pleasantly, and to add to these
pleasures, followed a delightful
Sunday School and Church Service
on Sunday Christmas, at which,
after Schools at the different church
es, The Baptist house of worship j
was filled with a large audience j
composed of its own, and other con- J
gregations of the town, with services
by the young people in the after
noon and preaching again at night.
And as we regard it celebrating
in a most becoming way, the sacred
anniversary of our Savior’s advent
into this world to save lost sinners,
so let his name be ever adored.

A Treat For the Doctor.
A Philadelphian, who lias since
then fortunately regained his
health, was last year the subject of
an extended examination by special
ists.
“The examination seems to havt
delighted Dr. Blank,” said the pa
tient to one of tire doctors when
they were alone for a moment, “for
I have noticed that his eyes are
positively beaming. I. assume, then,
that my ease is not a grave one.”
“Well,” hesitated the physician,
“I hardly feel justified in saying
that. But 1 understand from Dr.
Blank that he is going to perform
a number of interesting operations
on you.”—Lippincott's.

She—George, did you mail that
letter I gave you last Monday morn
ing?
He (cornered, but fertile in ex
pedients) — No, I didn’t. And,
what’s more, I demand to know its
contents!
She (amazed) — Why, George,
what’s the matter?
He (inwardly delighted) — I’m
jealous—that’s what’s the matter—
madly, desperately, insanely jeal
ous!
She—You dear old goose! It’s
only a letter to. Cousin Sue.
He (apparently much relieved)—
Is that all? How foolish of me I
I’ll go out and mail it at once.—

Three years ago
11 had a tumor
I which the doctor
I said would have
to be removed by an operation or I
could not live more than a year,
or two, at most. I wrote Mrs. Pink-
ham, at Lynn, Mass., for advice, and
took 14 bottles of Lydia E. Pink
ham’s Vegetable Compound, and to
day the tumor is gone and I am a
perfectly well woman. I hope my
testimonial will be of benefit to oth
ers.”—Mrs. S. J. Barber, Scott.

ment for a fibroid

ness, bloating,

walk or stand on
my feet any
length of time. I
wrote to Mrs.
Pinkham for ad
vice, followed her
directions and
took Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable
Compound. To-day I am a well
woman, the tumor was expelled and
my whole system strengthened. I
advise all women who are afflicted
with tumors or female troubles to
try Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable
Compound.” — Mrs. E. F. Hayes,
1800 Washington St., Boston, Mass.
For 30 years Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable

neuralgia pains,

My doctor said

me anything to
cure it. Through
the advice of a

to use Lydia E.
IPinkham’s Vege
table Compound, and the pain soon
disappeared. 1 continued its use
and am now in perfect health.
Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Com
pound lias been a God-send to me
as I believe I should have been in
my grave if it had not been for Mrs.
Pinkham’s advice and Lydia E.
Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound.”
