Editor Chronicle:— Please publish tin* following as to the proceedings of our convention held last week: The Republicans of AYilc&x oounty met in Rochelle on tin* 17th last, for the purpose of organizing and elect ing a new Executive Committee The house was called to order by M Jones who delivered an address after which the house announced ready for business. R C Baker was elected chairman pro tem and F S Andrews secretary pro tem after which the following executive committee was elected: Ai Jones, of Rochelle, chairman. W O Johnson, of Abbeville, Sec. S T Dixon, of Abbeville. Treas. AYillis M Fuller, of Bowen’s Mill, and AliHedge Bennett, of Rochelle. Each precinct was represented by chairmen, who were duly elected five days prior to the nomination, and they reported their work in good condition. In last week's issue of the-C hron icle we announced, briefly, the death of Geo. AV Reed, the news reaching us just on going to press. The remains were carried back to Michigan for interment and was ac companied by his father, wife and Ins two children. In his death Abbeville has lost a good citizen. He was the owner of the Reed Brick AYovks, one of the largest plants of the kind in Georgia and was doing an extensive business, lie was enterprising, generous and kind, and his efforts were constantly directed in a way that made his citi zenship valuable and will be sadly missed.
