.Wednesday -evening Mrs. J. M. Dit
fee entertained at dinner for Miss La
mar Ryals, a charming bride-elect. The
attractive home was beautiful in the
floral decorations, featuring pink and
white in the dining room, where cov
ers were laid for fourteen. The center’
piece was a crystal basket of sweet
;’peas, the hand painted place cards of
wedding bells and the other table dec
‘orations also carried out the color
scheme of pink. After a delicious
eight course dinner the loving eup was
passed, and each guest gave an appro
priate toast to the honoree. :

Mrs. Crum was the charming hostess
to Fort Early chapter D. A. R., Thurs
day afternoon at her home on Four
teenth avenue. The home was pret
tily decorated for the occasion with a
wealth of spring flowers in the red
and white colors, while garlands of
red and white crepe paper festooned
the double doors’ between parlor and
dining room. Mrs. Crum was assisted
in receivihng h®r guests by the regent,
Mrs. E. M. Espy. The punch table
was presided over by the hostess’ pret
ty trio of little daughters. s
With the regent in the chair a bus
iness meeting was first held, then the
program for the afternoon taken up,
the subject for the afternoon being
“Southern women and their part in
the establishment of a nation.” The
papers, “Mary, the mother of Wash
ington,” by Mrs. Max Land, and “First
Ladies of the Land,” by Mrs. Fleming
were most interesting: At the close
of the program the hostess, assisted by
Misses Ruth Hamilton and Frank
Marsh, served an elaborate plate lun
cheon, with ices. During the refresh
ment hour, several selections from the
hostess’ beautiful victrola were en
joyed. Besides club members, Mrs.
Crum entertained a goodly number of
other guests.

AFTERNOON RECEPTION
FOR MISS RYALS.
Among the interesting affairs of
Thursday was the reception which Mrs
W. H. McKenzie gave, honoring Miss
Lamar Ryals.
‘The home was beautiful in its lavish
decorations of pink and white flowers
featuring sweet peas in the drawing
room and carnations in the dining
room.
Among the suggestive ‘features of
the decorations were a kewpie brida)
party arranged on the dining table and
i[the favors -of miniature bride's slip
pers filled with rice. The guests were
‘carried into the music room - where
‘they registered in the bride’s book,
‘which was daintily decorated with cu
ipids.
Those receiving with Mrs. McKenzie
were Miss Ryals, Mrs. Ryals, Miss Mag
gie Bass, Miss Frances Carswell, Miss
Pansy Webb, "Miss Mary McA\rthur,
Miss Harriett Carswell, Miss Lucile

Mrs. McKenzie was lovely in a black
silk net creation over white, with
touches of pink. Miss Ryals was very
charming in an elaborate lace gown
and exquisite hat, while Mrs. Ryals,
mother of the bride-elect was be
gomingly, gowned in gray, taffeta and
chiffon. ‘
About a hundred and fifty guests
called during the afternoon.

FOR MISS RYALS.
Mrs. A. J. Comer and Miss Helen
Comer were at home Friday afternoon
to the members of the Symphony club
and about seventy-five other friends,
when they entertained for Miss La
mar Ryals. Carnations and sweet peas
in pink and white were used in profus
ion_throughout the home.
Receiving with Mrs. Comer and Misg
Comer were Miss Ryals, Mrs. Ryals
and Mrs. Rehfield, of Macon.
After the guests were received, a
miniature bridal couple, little Miss
Mary Gower and Master Bowden Palm
er, entered with a boquet for the hon
oree. A delightful musical program
was then rendered, after which Mrs.

a handsome bust of Beethoven.
Mrs. Comer was dressed in black
taffeta; Miss Oomer wore pink taffeta,
with a net overdress embroidered in
erystals, while Miss Ryals was strik
lpgly gowned in a costume of plaid taf
feta combined mith- dark green geor
gette crepe.

CERTIFICATE RECITAL
A large, appreciative audience as
sembled Wednesday afternoon at the
Comer studio of music, the occasion
being the Certificate recital of Miss
Reid. A profusion of floral beauties
emphasized the color scheme in pink.
Miss Reid was gowned becomingly
The grace and proficiency with which
Miss Reid executed the different clas
ical selections constituting her recital,
all of which, with the “exception of 2
duet, performed with Miss Comer,
were rendered without notes, mani
festing not alone close application, but
enviable attainment.
The ensemble numbers, given by &
bevy of winsome little girls and Master
Bowden Long Palmer, were enthusias
tically encored. Col. O. T. Gower pre
sented Miss Reid with her certificate.

MRS. LAND ENTERTAINS.
Mrs. Max E. Land entertained six
tables of rook Thursday afternoon in
honor of Mrs. Toole, who has been
charmingly entertained as the guest
of Mrs. J. M. Diffee, and Mrs. E. R.
Parker of Atlanta, arrived in the city
several days ago to visit friends. The
home was decorated throughout with
i_love\ly pink roses, palms and ferns add
ing their beauty. The dining table,
where Mrs. D. Holmes served punch,
‘was also attractively decorated with
pink roses and other flowers.
Boxes of imported powder were pre
sented the honor guests, and at the
conclusion of the games a delicious
salad course was served.

On Tuesday morning of the past
week Mrs. D. Merideth Clarke enter
tained the Three Table Bridge club at
her lovely home on Twelfth ayenue.
Decorations were exquisite spring
flowers, palms and ferns.
Assisting the hostess in receiving
and entertaining was Mrs. Foster Ty
son.* Top score prize, silk hose, went
to Mrs. Clanton Shipp.
Upon the arrival of the guests sand
wiches and coffee were served, and at
