The bridge will cost $3,494. 1t will
nave a 95-foot wooden approach on

News of this project was brought to
the city by Dr. Dallis Williams, of
‘harlton county, secretary of Charl- |
cu county chamber of commerce and
woimoter of the Charlton county prize- |
winning exhibit at the Southeastern
fair. It was one of the most interest
ng exhibits at the exposition, and be
sdes winning many first prizes, at

“The burgomaster of Eckernforde,
Schleswig-Holstein, publishes an urg
ent order against the peeling of pota
tces. The order says the prospects of
chtaining potatoes in the future are
excecedingly small, and that despite of-|
ficial control it is probable that only a
couple of pounds weekly per head will
he obtained. Anyone discovered jypeel
ing potatoes before boiling or throwing
away peelings will be punished by
three months’ imprisonment or a fine
of 1,600 marks. . |

The eight projects to be submitted
are those planned for the next six
months., They htve been approved by

‘orf to Madison; Georgia-Alabama high
way from Rome via Summersville to
Menlo: from Bainbridge via Quitman
and Valdosta to Savannah. Many sec
tions of these highways are at pres
snt in excellent condition and the new |
work will bring them up to standard

Macon, Oct. 24—That 2 new nation
&l bank with at least $200,000 capital

American Naticnal Bank. He organiz

The proposition has been under way
for some time, but announcement was
vithheld pending the result of nego
t'ations of Mills B, Lane and associates
for controlling interest in the Ameri
can National. Soon afte? it became
known that the deal had been consim
mated, Mr. Hillver announced that
the new bank will be formed.
SUITS AGAINST PINEHURST
MAN SETTLED TODAY
Macon, Oct. 24—Upon the payment
cf %4,000 and waving his right to an
czemption of $1,500 the suits against
I, A, Peavy, a Pinehurst merchant,
were withdrawn in the United States
court by crediwrs Saturday.
An inveluniary petition heing filed
cgainst him in January, 1915, creditors
claimed that after that date he trans
ferred certain assets, and they brought
guit to cancel the deeds.
