Mrs. Sallie A. Smith of McGregory,
Texas, is here on a visit to her broth
er, Mr. S. B. Archer, and other rela
tives. It has been about eighteen
years since visiting here, and she is
being given a cordial welcome by her
many relatives and friends.

interest in her store to Messrs. L. F.
C. Morrison, and the new
firm will go under the name of Head-
Morrison Cos. They are adding to

turned from a visit to Greenville,
S. C., Highlands, and Asheville, N.

Miss Olive Wills, who has been
director of the Whitson Studio in
Gainesville during the summer school,
has completed her work there, and
will be at home for several weeks
before going to Thornasville as head
of the musical department in the
public schools there this fall.
Mrs. Hewlett Aderhold entertain
ed two tables of bridge on Tuesday
afternoon, in honor of Mrs. Jones
Aderhold and Mrs. M. M. Smith of
Augusta. Those playing, were: Mrs.

AUTOISTS HELD FOR CRASHING
INTO BUGGY, KILLING HORSE
Cleveland, Ga., Aug. 16.—Dan
and Fred Campbell were arrested
Sunday on a charge of running their
automobile into the buggy of W. C.
Halcomb, of Mossy 1 , creek district.
They were relfased on a SSOO bond
each. The horse was killed ar.d the
buggy demolished.

The Editor of the News was the
victim of an accident while out on his
mail route Wednesday afternoon. A
Ford driven by a negro ran full tilt
into him on a curve*md caused con
siderable damage to Mr. Stone’s car.
Luckily the Editor escaped /without
