JCCO contains an executive and advisory board, both of which will be gaining new members. Dr. Kischa Reed is a phys ical therapist located in Co lumbus and has over 25 years of expertise in the held. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1992 and moved back to her hometown to serve her community. She will serve on the executive board. The JCCO Advisory Board will appoint Mark Lamb to the organization. Lamb is the director of standards and compliance at Kubota Indus trial Equipment. Before join ing the Kubota team ten years ago, Lamb worked in design engineering for 30 years. In addition to Lamb and Dr. Reed, Bob Schmidt will join the board. Before retiring, Schmidt worked in manage ment roles at T.J. Maxx and Homegoods Distribution. Schmidt has worked in ware housing, distribution and lo gistics for more than 36 years. Brenda Walker has rejoined the JCCO executive board as the scholarship assistant chair. Walker served on the board for many years and was reinstat ed in 2022. Walker currently works in a management posi tion at Wayne Farms LLC. Annika Sorrow, a JCCO student intern, will assume the organization's publicity coordinator position. She will handle publicity and media contact for the non-profit. Sorrow is a senior at East Jackson Comprehensive High School. JCCO President, Jim Scott, said he is beyond pleased to announce the appointment of these three board members and a new publicity coordi nator to the JCCO Leadership Team. Jefferson Drawing Club is com ing to the Jefferson Pub lic Library in February on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 4-5:30 pm. With this program, the library hopes to provide a fun and supportive environ ment for budding artists of all stripes. The class will be led by Mayday Trippe, a lo cal digital illustrator and art teacher. Other upcoming pro grams include: • Ladies Paint Night will resume on January 30 at 4:45 p.m. with a Valen- library to host drawing club tine-themed watercolor painting. This program is open to all artistic levels. Sign-up is required due to limited space. • If you can’t wait for your next yoga session or would like to incorporate more movement into your routine, consider giving tai chi a try on February 11 at 9:30 a.m. No experience or background is required. Carol Osborne will guide you through continuous, flowing movements to im prove balance, mobility, flexibility and strength. Attendees play with bubbles during a Bouncing Babies program. Nicholson library plans Mardi Gras shoebox float display Be a part of the “NIC KREWE” for Mardi Gras at the Harold S. Swindle Pub lic Library in Nicholson. Children can make their own shoebox float to be displayed in the library. The floats will be displayed beginning Fri day. Feb. 17. The most cre ative float will win a special prize pack. The floats need to be turned in by 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. A family can enter a float together, but only one prize will be given. In other new at the Nichol son library: •Make pop-up Valentine cards on Tuesday, February 7, from 3-5 p.m. The pro gram is free and open to ages 2 and older with a caregiver. The program will be held in the library annex. • Hidden Gems Adult Book Club meets on Thurs day, Feb. 16, at 1:30 p.m. The club meets on the third Thursday of each month. LEGO Club in full swing at Commerce library Family LEGO Club at the Commerce Public Library is in full swing. The club meets on the first and third Saturday of each month from 12-2 p.m. In other library news: • There will be a Valentine card drop-in craft the week of February 8-11. • There will be a free AED/CPR class offered to community members on February 15 at 1 p.m. Be sure to sign up as regis tration is limited. NINTH-ANNUAL BRASELTON CHOCOLATE WALK SET FOR FEB. 4 The ninth-annual Braselton Chocolate Walk will be held in downtown Braselton Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. At each stop, walkers collect a chocolate snack from participating businesses. “Chocolate will come in many forms so grab a group of friends or plan a date with your sweetheart and enjoy some sweet treats while you shop,” organizers said. Shops will be stamping each walker’s map. Those with completed stamped maps will be eligible for a $100 Buy Local Braselton E-Gift Card drawing on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The E-gift card can be redeemed at 23 participating businesses in Braselton. Tickets are $15 each and are limited. Ticket holders must be 16 years or older. HOSCHTON HISTORY HARVEST SET FOR MARCH 11 The City of Hoschton will host a “history harvest” on March 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hoschton Train Depot to digitize any old photographs, documents, let ters, diaries and videos that Hoschton residents may have. “Don’t let our history fade away,” organizers said.
