Ms. Bennett was bom in Lennox, on March 22, 1934, daughter of the late Robert Harrison Holloway and the late Corene Porter field Holloway. She was a hearing clerk, having worked for the Social Security Administration and retired from the CDC in 1995. Ms. Bennett was a former member of First Atlanta Baptist Church and current member of the Grove Level Baptist Church in Mays- ville. She was also a Red Hat member. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Charles Gordon. Survivors include her daughter, Andrea Lisa Grindle (Robert), Homer; grandchildren, Paul Grindle and Bobbie Jo Grindle; and half-siblings. Week of February 19-25 Albert “Barty” Byron Hold DAWSONVILLE — Albert "Barty" Byron Holder, 90, Daw- sonville, formerly from Jackson County, passed away on Wednes day, February 15, 2023. Mr. Holder was bom March 20, 1932, in Jackson County, the son of the late Earnest and Ole Mae Holder. Mr. Holder served in the Unit ed States Air Force from 1952- 1956 when he was honorably discharged. Mr. Holder was a member of the Dawsonville Baptist Church and for years served as a Victims Assistance Advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Mr. Holder retired from Ryerson in March of 1994. He enjoyed lis tening to gospel music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holder is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Holder; son, Larry Holder; grand son, Vince Hardy; and brothers. Week of February 19-25 COLBERT — Marjory Teresa (Keeler) Livengood fell asleep in death on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at her home in Colbert. “Marge” was bom Septem ber 28, 1933 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and graduated from Sweetwater Union High School in 1951. She married Fran Livengood Sr. on April 11,1954. Soon after she went to school to become a nurse, and later became a nursing instructor, spending many de cades caring for and teaching others how to care for people. She experienced “a turning point” in her faith when, just two days before her son Fran Jr. was born, she first spoke with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Marge had an insatiable thirst for learning, and her brief introduction to Bible truths that day ignited a passion for spiritual things that persisted through the rest of her life. Marge dedicated her life to her God, Jehovah, getting baptized on July 7, 1957. Marge was greatly admired for her zeal and energy. She loved to do puzzles and play games. She was always ready for a game and spent many hours enjoying the company of friends and family while playing cards. She longed to see the future blessings under God’s Kingdom and expressed a strong faith in the resurrection hope as prom ised in the Bible. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Edith Keeler; and her husband, Fran Livengood Sr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Fran Liven good Jr. and Lupe Livengood; granddaughter, Megan Johnson and her husband, Brandon Johnson; and many extended fam ily and close friends. She liked country music, especially Loretta Lynn. Rachel was known to be a loving person and was always a high-spirited person. Week of February 19-25 Annie "Ruth” Wendel Annie “Ruth” Wendel, 97, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2023 in Bethlehem. Ruth was bom in Swains- boro, on August 9, 1925 to the late William Gordon Hale and Bertha Edenfield. While growing up on a farm, Ruth took joy in cooking country themed food and she carried this love of cooking into her adulthood. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and loved to trav el. Though known for many things, Ruth was especially known for being a great wife and a great mother. She had a love for all animals, especially Buddy the cat. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Robert Wendel; her two brothers, Quinton and James Hale; as well as her three sisters, Juanita Douglas, Mattie Hale and Evie Dekle. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Chris Wendel and Bobby Wendel (Jennifer); her two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mi chael Wendel; as well as five great-grandchildren. Max was bom on Octo ber 31, 1940, in Atlanta, to James Harold West and Ag nes Estelle Tillman West. He was raised in College Park, where he attended Russell High School and graduated Class of 1959. While in high school, he was a member of the JROTC and competed on the air rifle team. He attended Georgia Tech and was a member of the rifle team. He was a member of the Army Reserve for six years, where he served in communications. He was a licensed pilot. Max married Edna Athalia Swinson on March 28, 1970. Af ter marriage, they lived in College Park for seven years. Later, they moved to Fayetteville, where they were faithful and active members of Flat Creek Baptist Church for over 30 years. Max served as a deacon and a term as chairman of the board of dea cons and actively worked with the Promise Class for over 20 years. He worked for AT&T for 36 years. Max was a member of the F&AM Lodge in Fayetteville for many years. After retiring, Max and Edna moved to Comer, where they were active mem bers of Comer Baptist Church for 12 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna Athalia Swinson West; his son, James Edward West, his wife, Jessica Elizabeth West, and their children, Anna Kate and Morgan Grace; his daughter, Laura Leigh West Timmons, her husband, Stephen Timmons, and their children, Mary Beth, Jackson and Marcus; his sister, Joyce Gibson and her children, Kathleen and Billy; his sister-in-law, Jessie Maroy Swinson Barbee (Steve Barbee); and a large extended family and close friends and members of Flat Creek Baptist Church.
