WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 2023 THE JACKSON HERALD PAGE 7A Jefferson PD Recent incidents reported Commerce PD Man arrested after pulling knife during argument at Commerce business The following incidents were recently reported by the Jefferson Police Depart ment: •forgery on Old Pender grass Rd. where a man re ported a fraudulent check had been cashed. •information on Wash ington St. where a Jeffer son High School student reported text messages they received. •wanted person located on Washington St. where officers arrested a man for a warrant. •damage to property on Dragon Dr. where a vehicle struck a stop sign. •miscellaneous report on Lakeshore Dr. where a man said a school bus didn’t give he and his wife enough space on the road while they were walking. •driver to exercise due care and no insurance on Jett Roberts Rd. where a man was arrested after striking a power pole with his vehicle. •criminal attempt and criminal trespass on Gor don St. where a restaurant manager reported someone had tampered with a supply room door. •found property on Pan ther Dr. where a man found two pistol magazines while picking up trash. •information on Lynn Ave. where a man reported a custody issue. •aggravated assault and simple battery-domestic violence act on Bailey Dr. where a woman said a man choked her, then picked her up and threw her to the ground. Officers saw visible injuries on the woman. They planned to take out warrants. •possession of marijuana less than an ounce on Hwy. 129 where a woman was cit ed during a traffic stop. Of ficers smelled marijuana in the vehicle and the woman handed over the substance. •driving while unlicensed on Damon Gause Bypass where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •driving while unlicensed on the 1-85 overpass where a man was arrested after a two-vehicle wreck. A wom an and two children were transported to the hospital for possible injuries. •driving under the influ ence (DUI)-refusal and en dangering a child while DUI on Damon Gause Bypass. A woman was arrested after she was stopped for speed ing. She reportedly smelled of alcohol and was arrest ed after field sobriety and breath tests. A 2-year-old child was in the vehicle with her. •driving while unlicensed on Hwy. 129 where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •information report on Persimmon Dr. where fam ily members had a verbal argument. •possession of marijua na less than an ounce; pos session of a drug-related object; and possession of any controlled substance with intent to distribute on Hwy. 129 where a woman was arrested after officers found marijuana and a pill in in Jefferson her vehicle. •information where a woman reported an alleged rape that happened outside of the county. •theft by taking on Gali lee Church Rd. where a man said someone cut a lock and took pallets. •information report on Memorial Dr. where some one reported a woman was upset when dealing with a child. •miscellaneous report on Apex Dr. where someone reported a theft by decep tion incident that may have been a civil matter regarding a stopped payment. •hit and run on Tyler Cir. where a man said a driver hit his dog, causing road rash on the dog’s neck. •entering auto on Peachtree Rd. where a woman reported a man took her wallet and keys from her vehicle. He later returned them. •forgery on Memorial Dr. where a woman said someone tried to pass fraudulent checks. •damage to proper ty on Hwy. 129 where a man said someone threw an item out of a vehicle, which struck and dam aged his vehicle. •information on Davis St. where someone report ed a possible dispute. •mandatory education for children between 6-16 on Dragon Dr. where a woman didn’t show up for a hearing after her child had repeated, unexcused absences from school. A man was recently arrested after pulling a knife on another man during an argument at a Commerce business. The argument apparently started after the suspect was late for work. Officers with the Com merce Police Department were called for the aggra vated assault incident on North Elm St. A man said the suspect showed up three hours late for work and seemed agitated when he arrived. An argument ensued af ter the man told the sus pect he needed to call the manager before starting work. The suspect allegedly hit the man with a hot sauce bottle and picked up a kitchen knife, using it “offensively” against the man. The suspect’s knife didn’t make contact with the man. The man said he struck the suspect and he then dropped the knife. The two men continued hit ting each other until an other employee broke up the scuffle. The suspect reportedly left the scene, but later returned and was arrest ed. OTHER INCIDENTS Other recent incidents reported to the Com merce PD included: •headlight violation and driving while license is suspended or revoked on S. Broad St. where a woman was arrested during a traffic stop. •custody dispute on South Elm St. where a woman reported her ex-husband refused to bring their children for a custody exchange. •information report on Maysville Rd. where a man argued with employ ees at a business. He also reportedly took a firearm from his pocket and set it inside his vehicle during the argument. •warrant executed on Ila Rd. where a woman was arrested for a warrant at a convenience store. •damage to property on Heritage Hills Dr. where a WiFi box was damaged. •driving while license is suspended or revoked and suspended registra tion on South Broad St. where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •driving under the in fluence (DUI)-refusal and failure to maintain lane on Williford St. where a man was arrested during a traffic stop after driving in the wrong lane. He reportedly smelled of alcohol and was arrested after a field sobriety test. •theft by taking on Heather Ln. where a woman reported an alter was missing. •battery-family vio lence on Oak St. where a man reported another man put him in a choke- hold and kneed him in the face. The complainant said he also had a drink that had made him sick. •warrant executed on Hospital Rd. where a woman was arrested during a traffic stop. •information report on Belmont St. where a woman noticed fraudu lent charges on her EBT account. •lost/mislaid property on Maysville Rd. where a man found suspected methamphetamine. •driving without a val id license and driving too fast for conditions on North Elm St. where a woman was arrested during a traffic stop. •public drunken ness and simple battery against a police officer on South Broad St. where officers attempted to ar rest a woman who was acting belligerent. She re ported pushed the officer repeatedly while cursing. The woman was tasered and taken to the ground, where she was detained. •information walk-in report where a woman reported her teenage son left a residence after a dispute between family. He was later returned to his mother. JEFFERSON PD •Jacer Bayardo Duar- tes-Carmona, 32, 6688 Peachtree Industrial, Atlanta — driving without a valid li cense; no proof of insurance; obedience to traffic-control device violation; vehicles approaching or entering in tersection; and vehicles to drive on the right side of the roadway. •Dulce Yolanda Banda, 25, 200 Fond Dr., Athens — DUI-refusal; endangering a child by DUI; and speeding (80/55). •Jose Navarrette Hernan dez, 23, 1934 Token St., Charleston, N.C. — driving without a valid license. • Ronaldo Nicolas-Do- mingo, 47, 1201 Cedar Ln., Greenville, S.C. — driving without a valid license. GEORGIA STATE PATROL •Chadtavious Trevon Ad ams, 27, 29 Tanners Bridge, Bethlehem — hold for Clarke County. • Haden Sundown Walker, 17, 66 Sawtooth Oak Dr., Jefferson — three counts of battery-family violence. • Kaiya Mone Williams, 21, 310 Brandon Mill Cir., Fayetteville — DUI-alco- hol; impeding traffic flow; possession of marijuana less than an ounce; and no proof of insurance. JCSO continued from 6A niston Dr. where a man said dogs chased his car while barking. • death investigation (non-murder) on Fitzpatrick Rd. where a woman found her husband deceased. •information on Club Es tates Blvd. where a woman reported a man made threats involving a Department of Family and Children Ser vices incident. • suspicious activity on Cedar Grove Church Rd. where a woman saw lights and heard gunshots. •dispute on Commerce Rd. where a couple argued and the man wanted to get his phone. •warrant service on Com merce Rd. where officers re trieved a man who had a war rant out of Jackson County. • civil matter on Com merce Rd. where a man claimed his vehicle was damaged after someone put speakers in. •criminal trespass on Old Commerce Rd. where a man came onto a property and entered a storage building. It’s not clear if anything was taken. • information on Fuller Rd. where a man wanted to talk with deputies about a divorce. •dispute on Jefferson Riv er Rd. where family mem bers had a dispute and there were conflicting stories about a physical dispute. •juvenile issue on Old Savage Rd. where a juvenile reportedly refused to go to bed and was screaming and yelling. •harassing communica tions and terroristic threats and acts on Paynes Point where a woman reported a man hit another woman, choked her and threatened to kill her. She said the man also harassed and threatened the woman daily. •juvenile issue on Kings Ridge Rd. where a juvenile made comments about run ning away. •agency assist on Hwy. 129 where deputies assisted the Georgia State Patrol with a wreck involving injuries. • suspicious activity on Old Commerce Rd. where a man slept in a van at a con struction site. WEST JACKSON •dispute on Cooper Bridge Rd. where a woman said her husband damaged her phone and their camper during an argument over him failing to pick her up from work. The man denied breaking the phone and said he removed shelves from the camper due to the roof falling in. •hit-and-run on Hwy. 124 where a woman said a driv er backed into her car while leaving a grocery store. •welfare check where a ju venile said her boyfriend had suicidal thoughts. The juve nile said her boyfriend texted her later, saying he was fine. •recovered stolen prop erty on Tom White Rd. and John Randolph Rd. where dump trucks stolen from two construction sites in West Jackson were each found at the opposite site. An off road dump truck stolen from John Randolph Rd. was found flipped on its side on Tom White Rd. The truck stolen from the Tom White Rd. site, reportedly valued at $700,000, was located at the John Randolph Rd. site. A man from the John Ran dolph Rd. construction site said another one of his dump trucks sustained damage. In what appeared to be a related incident, several mailboxes along Hwy. 124 were dam aged. A man said his security cameras captured footage of a dump truck damaging his mailbox. •hit-and-run on 1-85 where a man said the driver of a utility truck struck the rear of his vehicle as he attempt ed to merge left. He said the driver continued around him without slowing or stopping. •theft on Parkers Place where siding and crown trim was reportedly stolen. The foreman at the job site said the construction compa ny had previously reported thefts of materials. The com pany seeks to press charges. •identity fraud on Charlie Cooper Rd. where a woman said someone used her name and photos on Instagram to scam people out of money. She added that she could no longer access her account. •identity fraud on Down ing St. where a man said someone used his name and social security number to file taxes with the IRS. The man said the IRS sent back his tax return, informing him his taxes were already filed. •criminal damage to prop erty on Hwy. 53 where three juveniles were sent to Metro Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) in Atlan ta after reportedly striking multiple vehicles with water bottles and eggs along Hwy. 53. Four drivers reported wa ter bottles being thrown out of a moving vehicle, hitting their vehicles. According to the incident report, the bot tles severely damaged the hoods of two vehicles and the windshield of another. Two other drivers reported heir vehicles being hit by objects thrown out of a vehi cle. Barrow County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the juveniles via flock camera, which revealed their vehi cle’s tag number. The juve niles said they bought cases of water and eggs and threw them out of the windows at other vehicles. A deputy transported the three juve niles to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for transport to RYDC. •fraud on Olde Wicke Trail where a woman received a bank card from a bank in Tupelo, Mississippi for an account she did not open. She contacted the bank and learned the account had been closed. The bank told her $500 was deposited and later withdrawn from the account. •animal complaint on Dav enport Rd. where a man said a stray dog entered his chick en coop, killed one chicken and injured another. •welfare check on Hwy. 124 were an older man was transported to the hospital after emergency medical per sonnel determined his blood pressure was critically low. According to the incident re port, the man appeared con fused while walking around. •criminal trespass on Dav enport Rd. where a man reportedly entered a house without permission. The man allegedly opened the door to a restroom occupied by a juvenile. According to the incident report, he lat er argued with the juvenile after kicking the juvenile’s puppy. The responding dep uty was unable to locate the man. •theft on Rebecca St. where a man said some one stole his truck from his driveway. •mental subject on New St. where a man who hadn’t taken his medication in three weeks was reported ly “acting crazy.” A deputy transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
