Jolly Agers meets second Tuesdays at First Baptist Commerce Jolly Agers group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at noon at First Baptist Church of Commerce. Jolly Ages is a senior adult ministry for those 60 years of age and older. The group meetings in the Fellowship Hall at FBCJ for a covered dish luncheon and an inspira tional program. HISTORIC COURTHOUSE TO HOST JACKSON COUNTY JAMBOREE FIRST SATURDAY IN APRIL Western Swing, old-time Americana, classic fingerpick ing guitar and hard-driving bluegrass will be featured at the next Jackson County Jam boree, to be held at the Jackson County Historic Courthouse on Saturday, April 1, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Featured performers include Maggie and the Mason Jars, singer-guitarist Ron Hipp and The Original Courthouse All- Star String Band. Songster Maggie Mason Hunter, multi-instrumental ist Tommy Jordan and master fiddler Ivan Strunin make up Maggie and the Mason Jars. The trio are known for their unique mix of Western swing, gypsy jazz and "high lone some” Appalachian sound. Americana singer Ron Hipp’s fingerstyle guitar-play ing and rich baritone voice have earned praise from such diverse authorities as re nowned classical guitarist Sha ron Isbin and Sing Out! Maga zine. The Original Courthouse All-Star String Band returns with more fast-picking and tight harmonies. The Historic Courthouse is located at 85 Washington Street in Jefferson. JEFFERSON PLANS CIGARS, BOURBON AND MUSIC Jefferson will host "Ci gars, Bourbon and Music” on March 31 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by calling 706-367- 5754. KEEP JACKSON COUNTY BEAUTIFUL TO HOST SPRING INTO RECYCLING EVENT Keep Jackson County Beau tiful will host its Spring into Recycling event on Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to noon. Donation items include used clothes, eyeglasses, hearing aids and camping equipment. Recyclable items include cardboard, clean plastic bags (no Ziplocks), aluminum cans, E-waste and household haz ardous waste. Limited quantities items in clude: Paint (five gallons for free, $2 for each additional gallon); fluorescent lights (six free, $2 for each additional bulb/rod); document shred ding (limit two boxes); and tires (six free, $6 for each ad ditional car tire and $10 for each additional truck tire). Tires should be taken to 100 Landfill Rd., Jefferson. The Drug Take-Back Pro gram will also be held in partnership with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office during this time. BRASELTONTECH SPARK SESSIONS CONTINUE BraseltonTech — a pri vate-public initiative between the Town of Braselton and the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech — contin ues its “spark sessions” at the Braselton Civic Center to pro vide advice and support for startup tech companies. The remaining schedule is as fol lows: April 13, May 18, June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10. All sessions begin at 6 p.m. BraseltonTech’s partner, ATDC, is a Georgia econom ic development organization funded by the state legislature and managed under the Geor gia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute. ATDC is the oldest technol ogy business accelerator in the U.S., and its graduating com panies have raised over $3 bil lion in venture capital. BRASELTON FARMERS MARKET CONTINUES The Braselton Farmers Mar ket will continue with month ly markets until May 5 when it shifts to weekly markets. Weekly markets run through September. Monthly markets will re sume in October. There is no December market. Each market stalls at 4 p.m. The market is moving to the Braselton Town Green, adja cent to its previous location on Davis St., to allow for more space. ANNUAL ‘TOAST TO BRASELTON’ SET FOR MAY 4 The Braselton Down town Development Authority (DDA) will host its annual Toast to Braselton fundraiser on May 4 from 6-9 p.m. at the Braselton Civic Center. This year’s Cinco de Mayo themed-event — “Un Noche en Braselton" — includes a buffet dinner, wine and beer, entertainment, silent auction and live auction. The DDA seeks sponsorships for the event. “It is through these sponsor ships that our program is able to continue giving back to the community and offer econom ic development opportunities and support to downtown Braselton businesses," orga nizers said.
