A native of Winder, Mrs. Curlin was the daughter of the late Matthew and Clara Belle Crowe. She was preceded by her hus band, James Curlin Sr.; a son, Timothy Curlin; and a sister, LuDonia Stinch- comb. Mrs. Curlin was a devout Jehova’s Witness and was a member of the Winder Kingdom Hall. Surviving are two sons, James Curlin Jr., Ft. Worth, Texas, and Doug Curlin, Winder; and six grand children also survive. Week of April 23-29 Navona Gooch Forgay JEFFERSON — Navona Gooch Forgay, 89, of Jef ferson, entered rest Sunday, April 23,2023. Mrs. Forgay was born in Hoschton, the daughter of the late Otis R. Bryant and the late Bertie Taylor Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first hus band, Myron Gooch; her second husband, Robert C. Forgay; and a brother, Horace R. Bryant. Mrs. Forgay worked as a bookkeeper with Gooch Electric and Pumbing Inc. and was a homemaker. She was a member of Galilee Christian Church, Jefferson, and loved playing bridge for over 50 years. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy E. Gooch (Barba ra) and Bobby W. Gooch (Susan) both of Jefferson; two step-daughters, Sandra Still (William), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Susie Payne (Carol), Monroe; two step sons, Bobby A. Forgay (Becky), Conyers, and Tommy Forgay (Shannon), Covington; six grandchildren, Kim- berlie G. Week of April 23-29 Alice Hodges Hanley Alice Hodges Hanley, 93, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 13, 2023. She was bom January 11, 1930, in Sydnorsville, Yrrginia, the youngest of nine children to the late George Willie Hodges and Annie Blackwell Hodges. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fawrence Guy Huffer; her second husband, Roy Fee Hanley; young son, F.G. Huffer Jr.; brothers, Fewis Hodges (Minnie), Greensboro, N.C., Terry Hodges (Alice), Bassett, Va., Bernard Hodges (Marie), Rocky Mountain, Va., and Dennis Hodges (Ercell), Col linsville, Va.; and sisters, Evelyn Holcomb (Whitten), Staunton, Va., Hazel Brown (Taft), Rocky Mount, Va., and Ruth Merriman (Clay), Fieldale, Va. A special recognition to Hannah Blumenshine, care giver, who did so much to make our mother’s life better in her final months. Alice was an active member of Moon’s Grove Baptist Church for many years but had been unable to attend in recent years due to poor health. She especially en joyed outings with the Senior Fadies. She had a great love for her family and extended family in Virginia and in 60-plus years she only missed four family reunions in Virginia (two due to COVID restrictions). Alice was loyal, kindhearted, very generous and al ways put others first. She had a true servant’s heart. She was a lifelong reader, enjoyed genealogy, history and especially trips to the beach with her family. One of her greatest joys in life was when she became a grand mother at almost age 67. Emily was enrolled at Brenau University pursu ing her career as a cardiac nurse practitioner. Emily worked at Piedmont Ath ens Regional Medical Center in the Cardiovascu lar Intensive Care Unit. She was the daughter of Dr. J Clark Hill III and Do reen (Hart) Hill, Commerce. Emily was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roland and Wilma Perdue Hill of Homer, and J. Robert Hart of Jefferson. One of her favorite hobbies was cooking for her family. They were everything to her and she always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She is survived by her children, Roger Wright, Gail Hunter and Mike, Ron Wright and Jackie, Tim Wright and Lisa and Gary Wright; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; broth er, John Housinger and Judy.
