WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2023 THE JACKSON HERALD PAGE 7A Commerce PD Jefferson PD Man arrested after firing gun during dispute A man was recently arrested after firing a gun during a domestic dis pute in Commerce. According to the report, the man had gotten violent toward a woman at a Brandy Dr. residence. The wom an said he pointed a gun at her and fired a round through the ceiling of the bedroom. They separated for the night, but the woman called the Commerce Po lice Department when she returned from work the next day and the man started yelling at her. When officers arrived, the man shut himself inside a room and told officers they’d have to come inside and get him. Officers secured warrants on the man for aggravated assault and ob struction the next day. They returned to the residence to arrest the man after the woman texted and said he’d shot a hole in the closet with a shotgun. OTHER INCIDENTS Other recent incidents reported by the CPD included: •hands-free violation and driving without a valid license on Jefferson St. where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •driving without a valid license and too fast for conditions on Hwy. 441 where a woman was arrested during a traffic stop. •driving without a valid license and too fast for conditions on Homer Rd. where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •warrant executed and no insur ance on Veterans Memorial Pkwy. where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. • driving while license is suspended or revoked and tag light violation on North Broad St. where a man was ar rested during a traffic stop. •no insurance and hands-free vi olation on South Elm St. where a woman was cited during a traffic stop. •burglary (felony) and entering auto on Chestnut St. where someone reportedly broke into a residence and took two televisions. Someone also reportedly took tools from a truck and broke a window on the truck. •harassing communications where a man called the police to report a family member had called cursing and threatening to damage or steal property. •runaway juvenile on South Elm St. where a woman reported her 16-year-old daughter had runaway. •information on Katie Ln. where family members wanted officers to check on a man. •harassment on Maysville Rd. where a man reported an unknown man had confronted him multiple times. Recent incidents reported The following incidents were recently reported by the Jeffer son Police Department: •recovered stolen property on Epps St. where a trailer was recovered. • theft of lost or mislaid prop erty on Old Pendergrass Rd. where a man lost his wallet. •criminal damage to proper ty on Redtail Rd. where a wom an said someone spray-painted her vehicle. She also reported her ex-husband had been ha rassing her. •information on Martin St. where the director of a church preschool requested extra pa trol at the facility. •information on Bus. 129 where a woman wanted to get her belongings from a resi dence. •wanted person located on Winder Hwy. where a man was arrested following a two-vehi cle accident. •miscellaneous report on Stan Evans Dr. where officers transported a man from the Gwinnett County Jail to the Jackson County Jail. •speeding and driving while license is suspended on Hwy. 129 where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. • driving while unlicensed and speeding on Damon Gause Bypass where a man was cited during a traffic stop. •driving under the influence (DUI) on Athens St. where a man was arrested after a sin gle-vehicle wreck involving a power pole. Officers smelled alcohol on him and he was ar rested after field sobriety and breath tests. •criminal trespass on Davis St. where a man reported some one broke into a trailer and took a bag. •battery-family violence and simple battery-family violence on Lynn Ave, where a man was arrested after a dispute with family members turned physi cal. The man reportedly pushed a woman and punched a man during the dispute. •wanted person located on Washington St. where a man was arrested for a warrant af ter he was seen lying next to a vending machine at a store. • single-vehicle wreck with one injury on Hwy. 129. •speeding and driving while license is suspended or revoked on Damon Gause Bypass where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •information on Washington St. where there were conflict ing stories about a confronta tion between several people. in Jefferson One man said he was driving by a residence and two men pointed assault rifles at him. But the two men said the man drove by and someone in his vehicle yelled “I got something for you” and held an object out the window. • verbal/custody dispute on Hwy. 129 where a man and woman argued during a custo dy exchange. •runaway/missing person on Sparrow Ct. where a teenager ran away from home, but later returned. •theft by shoplifting on Old Pendergrass Rd. where a gro cery delivery company em ployee reportedly shoplifted $80 worth of merchandise from a store. She was cited and given a criminal trespass warning. • suspended license plate and driving while license is sus pended on Damon Gause By pass where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. •unauthorized use of a finan cial transaction card on Haw kins Creek Dr. where a woman said someone used her card to make $900 in online purchas es. •driving while license is suspended (no location list ed) where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. WEST JACKSON •computer theft on Lin- gerfelt Ln. where a wom an who believed she was speaking with a Facebook customer service represen tative said her phone was hacked once she answered the call. She said the hack er accessed her Cash App account and withdrew $490. •dispute on Cooper Bridge Rd. where a wom an said her husband said he wished she “was dead and out of the house.” •information on Gum Springs Church Rd. at Jack- son Trail where a woman said someone in the back of a van pointed an assault rifle at her mother’s vehicle. She said her mother imme diately moved into the other lane and drove around the vehicle. The woman said the driver might have been angry with her mother for driving slowly. She said the driver had forced her moth er’s vehicle into the grass after she pulled out onto Gum Springs Rd. •dispute on Mead Ct. where dispatch received a report of a woman jumping on her boyfriend’s car, re fusing to let him leave a res idence. A deputy responded to the address, but no one with the woman’s name lived at the home and no one there saw a dispute. •harassing communi cations and electronically furnishing obscene material to minors on Skelton Rd. where a juvenile said she re ceived an image that includ ed her boyfriend’s face and genitals. The person who sent the picture demand ed money and threatened to send the photo to family members if they weren’t paid. A deputy told the teen the threat was likely a scam. •agency assist on Hwy. 332 at South Hampton Cir cle where a woman per formed CPR on a man. A deputy assisted with CPR until emergency medical services arrived. •information on Jackson Park Dr. where a woman said the driver of a truck repeatedly pulls into her driveway. The woman said her neighbors also observed the driver pull into her resi dence and back out. •fraud and trespass on Freedom Pkwy. where an employee said a person, whom she thought was a company superior, had her break into a safe and take $30,000 needed for what she told was an emergency delivery. She said she threw the safe on the floor several times and broke it to access the cash, as directed by the scammer. While en route to the bank, the woman contacted another superior who said the caller was a scammer and for her to re turn to the store. The store manager said no money was lost. •welfare check on Char lie Cooper Rd. where a woman said her daughter threw water at her and tore up the house. She said her daughter abuses prescrip tion drugs. •suspicious activity on Fern Ct. where a woman said her husband, whom she is divorcing, dropped off an envelope at her home though he is supposed to be unaware of where she lives.
