The festival will be open on Friday, May 5, from 4-9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 6. from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The annual event features a parade, food, crafts, en tertainment. an auction, cakewalks, games and more. ATHENS AREA DIAPER BANK ENCOURAGES INVOLVEMENT IN THE WORLD’S LARGEST DIAPER DRIVE The Athens Area Diaper Bank is partnering with dia per banks nationwide to have the World’s Largest Dia per Drive from May 1-6. The Athens Area Diaper Bank encourages community members in Barrow, Clarke, Jackson, Madison, Oconee, and Oglethorpe counties to get involved with their organizations, schools, faith communities, work places, etc., to host diaper drives as part of the World’s Largest Diaper Drive. ANNUAL ‘TOAST TO BRASELTON’ SET FOR MAY 4 The Braselton Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host its annual Toast to Braselton fund raiser on May 4 from 6-9 p.m. at the Braselton Civic Center. This year’s Cinco de Mayo themed-event — “Un Noche en Braselton” — includes a buffet dinner, wine and beer, entertainment, silent auction and live auc tion. The DDA seeks sponsorships for the event. “It is through these sponsorships that our program is able to continue giving back to the community and offer economic development opportunities and support to downtown Braselton businesses,” organizers said. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. The tournament format is a best ball, four-man scramble includes a hole-in-one truck prize, a 50-50 wager on a par-3 against a professional golfer and a prize for the winning team. COMMERCE TO HOST CRUISIN’ COMMERCE ON MAY 13 Commerce will host its Cruisin’ Commerce event on Saturday, May 13, from 4-8 p.m. The event will take place at 110 State Street. VETERANS FUNDRAISING EVENT SET FOR MAY 13 AT BRASELTON BREWING COMPANY A veterans’ event, “Got Your 6: Hops and Heroes.” is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, from noon to 10 p.m. at Braselton Brewing Company (9859 Davis St., Bra selton). The fundraising event will include raffle prizes, food, drinks and live music from Zach Haines (5-8 p.m.). Braselton Brewing Company will donate 20% of all proceeds to the Brothers Keeper Veteran Foundation to support its mission to curb veteran suicides. Brothers Keeper Veteran Foundation was founded by Chris Cath- ers, a former Green Beret and a local resident. “Together, we can make a difference in the lives of veterans,” the organization said in a statement. “Let’s stand united and support those who have served our country.” For more information, email info@bkvf.org. BRASELTONTECH SPARK SESSIONS CONTINUE BraseltonTech — a private-public initiative between the Town of Braselton and the Advanced Technology De velopment Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech — continues its “spark sessions” at the Braselton Civic Center to pro vide advice and support for startup tech companies. The remaining schedule is as follows: May 18, June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10. All sessions begin at 6 p.m. BraseltonTech’s partner, ATDC, is a Georgia economic development organization funded by the state legislature and managed under the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innova tion Institute. ATDC is the oldest technology business accelerator in the U.S., and its graduating companies have raised over $3 billion in venture capital.
