WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 2023 THE JACKSON HERALD PAGE 7A Commerce PD Woman arrested after call about kids in car A woman was recently ar rested by Commerce police af ter someone reported children were locked in a car that wasn’t running. Officers with the Commerce Police Department arrested the woman for driving without a valid license and for seatbelt violations for two children who were in the vehicle. Officers said a newborn and another small child were not properly restrained in the ve hicle. They were also reported ly “pouring sweat” and were hot to the touch. A med unit checked on the children. OTHER INCIDENTS Other recent incidents re ported by the CPD included: •warrant service on South Elm St. where a man was ar rested for a warrant after he was stopped for driving the wrong way. • theft by taking on Scott St. where a woman reported tools and a trailer were missing. •driving on wrong side of road and driving under the in fluence (DUI)-alcohol-less safe on South Elm St. where a wom an was arrested during a traffic stop. She reported smelled of alcohol and was arrested after field sobriety and breath tests. •fraudulent attempts to ob tain refunds on Hackberry Ave. where someone reported a pos sible rental scam. • obstructing law enforce ment officers on Homer Rd. where two people were arrest ed after officers attempted to arrest a man for giving a fraud ulent license/false statements in applications. The man fled on foot, but was ultimately detained. A woman was also arrested after refusing to give officers someone’s name. • forgery-felony on Lewis Cir. where a man reported a stolen check. •theft by taking-firearm on Baugh St. where a man report ed a gun was missing after he left it at a friend’s residence, •theft by taking on Homer Rd. where someone took a lift from a tractor. • theft by taking on New St. where a man reported flowers and a figurine were taken from a family member’s grave. • harassing communications; computer invasion of priva cy; and theft by extortion on South Elm St. where a wom an said someone hacked her social media. •theft by taking on Coles Ct. where a man said his pres sure washer and carjack were stolen. • suspicious incident on Green St. where a man report ed someone may have tried to break into his residence. •cruelty to animals on Land Way where a woman said a driver ran over her dog. •information on South Elm St. where a woman said a man wouldn’t return her vehicle. • recovered stolen motor vehicle on Duncan Cir. where a vehicle that was stolen out of Athens-Clarke County was found. Arcade PD Recent incidents reported in Arcade The following incidents were recently reported by the Arcade Police Depart ment: • suspicious incident on Sandy Lane Ct. where an anonymous caller wanted officers to remove their boy friend’s son from a location. • suspicious incident on Hightower Ct. where a cable line had been severed. •agency assist on Wood land Hills Dr. where some one reported hanging power or cable lines. •agency assist on Stan Evans Dr. where officers ad ministered an alcohol breath test. • sexual exploitation of children and harassing com munications on Rock Forge Rd. The incident was turned over to investigators. • theft by taking and crim inal trespass on Hwy. 82. No additional information was given. •burglary on Trotters Ridge Rd. where a man said someone broke into his resi dence and took a semi-auto matic pistol. •agency assist on San dy Lane Ct. where officers received an email from an Adult Protective Services case manager about a man’s welfare and possible ex ploitation. The man said he was fine and had no con cerns. •damage to property on 1-85 where a patrol car was damaged. • suspicious incident on Athens Hwy. where a man found wooden stakes and ribbons in his driveway and yard. •criminal trespass on Hwy. 82. No additional de tails were given. •agency assist on White Oak Trail where officers re sponded to a med call. •driving under the influ ence (DUI)-less safe: driv ing without a license: and failure to maintain lane on Hwy. 129 where a person was arrested during a traffic stop. • agency assist on N. Trot ters Way where an elderly man fell, but was not in jured. • suspicious incident on Athens Hwy. where officers found a vehicle possibly linked to recent thefts. Jefferson PD Recent incidents reported by Jefferson PD The following incidents were recently reported by the Jefferson Police Department: •simple battery-domestic violence act on Persimmon Dr. where a juvenile reported ly attempted to fight a family member during a dispute over grades. •theft by taking on Brant Cir. where a man said some one took a cabinet unit. •information on Hwy. 11 where a woman reported a co worker was following her and that he had a gun. •hit and run and following too closely on Concord Rd. where a man reported another vehicle rear-ended his vehicle and the other driver didn’t stop. •two-vehicle wreck with one injury on Hwy. 129. No one was transported. The re sponding officer said they were unable to get the infor mation they needed from one of those involved because of “aggressive behavior and is sues with the color of (the of ficer’s) skin.” Another officer intervened. •information on Speedway Dr. where a store employee found suspected drugs that may have been dropped by a customer. •possession of marijuana less than an ounce on Damon Gause Bypass where a wom an was cited during a traffic stop. Officers smelled mari juana in the vehicle and later found the substance, along with a grinder. •possession of a controlled substance at Jefferson High School where a teenage stu dent reportedly consumed Oxycodone in a restroom. A pill was also found on the stu dent. The student was taken to the hospital by a med unit. Officers planned to take out warrants. •driving under the influ ence (DUI); failure to main tain lane; and possession of an open container on Athens St. where a man was arrest ed after a vehicle wreck. The man reportedly smelled of alcohol and was arrested after a field sobriety test. An open container of alcohol was also found and a juvenile had been in the vehicle with the man at the time of the wreck. A per son from another vehicle was taken to the hospital. •theft by deception on Hwy. 129 where a man said some one cancelled a transaction after buying something from him online. •miscellaneous report on Lee St. where a man reported ly wanted his money back af ter playing a game at a store. He reportedly cursed at a store employee. •information on Isaiah Dr. where a father and son argued. •speeding; driving while unlicensed; and seat belt vio lation on Damon Gause By pass where a man was arrest ed during a traffic stop. Two juveniles, including an infant and a young teenager, weren’t properly restrained in the car. •DUI; disobeying a traf fic-control device; and failure to maintain lane on Hwy. 129 where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. He re portedly smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated. He was arrested after a field so briety test. •death investigation on Michelle Dr. where a one- year-old child was found not breathing and unresponsive. Family members and officers did CPR until EMS arrived and took the child to North east Georgia Medical Center Gainesville. •information on Jackson Concourse where a vehicle door damaged another vehi cle. •information at Jefferson Elementary School where an administrator reported a pos sible issue with a student’s doctor’s excuse. The doctor’s excuse was valid. •unauthorized use of a fi nancial transaction card on Athens St. where a woman said someone charged over $150 to her debit card. •vandalism on Dragon Dr. where someone damaged a trailer and tampered with track equipment, the field sweep and a UTV. •information on E. Public Sq. where a woman said a man yelled racial slurs at her and threw a pack of muffins at her. •wanted person location; driving while license is sus pended; and possession of methamphetamine on Dry Pond Rd. where two people were arrested after officers ap proached a suspicious vehicle. One of the occupants denied having any drugs in the ve hicle, but later admitted there were drugs in the vehicle after officers called out a K-9 unit. Suspected methamphetamine and a bong were found. •information on Dry Pond Rd. where a man reported sus picious activity at a business. •obtaining regulated drugs by fraud on Old Pendergrass Rd. where a man reported someone filled his prescrip tion without consent. •incident on River Mist Cir. where a man reported some one in a vehicle drove by his house twice and went in his mailbox. •speeding; fleeing or at tempting to elude a police officer; and registration/li cense violation on Sycamore St. where a man was arrested during a traffic stop. The man reportedly fled from police on a motorcycle, but ultimately stopped and was arrested. •simple battery on Coopers Hawk Ln. where a female said a man grabbed her during a domestic incident. •verbal dispute on Redbud Rd. where a man and woman had an argument. •possession of marijuana less than an ounce on John B. Brooks Rd. where a woman was cited during a traffic stop. Officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle and the wom an turned over the substance. She said her son pushed her as she attempted to block him from taking food downstairs. She also said he slapped his younger sister. A deputy contacted a Department of Juvenile Justice representa tive, who said nothing could be done at that moment. •theft on Clydes Way where a woman reported a fraudu lent charge of $56 for a book case delivered to an address in Chicago. •fraud on Stone View Dr. where a woman said her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend used her name, date of birth and email address at hotels in Bra- selton and Jefferson. She also said the woman drove by her house, possibly took a photo and sent it to her ex-boyfriend. She said her ex-boyfriend is in jail for attacking her. •suspicious activity on Mc- Neal Rd. at Hwy. 332 where a female driver said she was followed. According to the in cident report, the driver behind her tailed her so closely that she could not see the other ve hicle’s headlights. The woman called 9-1-1 after making two loops off multiple area roads because she felt she was being followed. The other driver re portedly blew their horn at her after turning onto McNeal Rd. •juvenile issue on Country Cove Dr. where a woman said her teenage grandson is possi bly involved in criminal activi ty due to large sums of money sent to him via Cash App. •fraud on River Branch Way where a man said he found a rental home listed by an un known agent for $815 a month with a $815 deposit and later found the same residence list ed by Zillow and Redfin for $2,105. The man, who said no money was exchanged, want ed the report on file should the unknown agent attempt to scam anyone else.
