Kahler is the lead vocalist of the James Taylor Tribute band. Other band members include: Gerry Hansen, drums; Lee Davis, piano; Michael Steele, bass; and Jody Worrell, electric guitar. Lee Davis supports the band on the keyboard and piano during the evening concert. Community calendar COMMERCE DANCERS TO PRESENT ‘AN EVENING OF MUSIC AND DANCE’ Commerce School of Dance Senior Company members will put on “An Eve ning of Music and Dance” on Saturday, June 3, at 7 p.m. at the Commerce Cul tural Arts Center. Live music by Sally Stites, Jim Crow and David Court will be performed in between dance pieces. Dancers will per form to the music of artists as diverse as Benny Goodman, Michael Jackson, Patsy Cline, the rock band U2 and clas sical composer, Cesare Pugni. Graduat ing high school senior Addie Mitcham will perform to Natalie Cole’s version of “Both Sides Now” with guest artist Tim Kolman of The Georgia Ballet. All proceeds from this event bene fit The Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County. Tickets are $15 and are available at the door the day of the show. The cultural center is located at 232 Cherry St.. Commerce. JACKSON COUNTY JAMBOREE COMING UP JUNE 3 The next Jackson County Jambo ree will be held Saturday, June 3, at the Jackson County Historical Courthouse, Doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 7:30 p.m. This show features Gypsy jazz band, The Bones of Saint Michael, and acoustic Americana band. Pickled Holler. The historic courthouse is located at 85 Washington Street. BEE REMOVAL CLASS SET IN JEFFERSON Honey Bee Removal Training will be hosted in June at the Jackson County Ex tension Office located at 255 Curtis H. Spence Drive, Jefferson. This training will be focused on those interested in being Georgia Department of Agriculture Certified in the removal of Honey Bees in structures (homes, busi nesses. schools, etc.). The course will take place on June 8, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) The cost will be $10, which includes snacks and drinks. Registration is re quired. JEFFERSON’S FREEDOM FESTIVAL COMING UP JUNE 24 Jefferson’s Freedom Festival will be held June 24 from 5-10 p.m. in downtown. The popular event features fireworks, music, games, vendors and food. Wrestling at Southern on the road be gins at 5 p.m. The American Flyers Band will perform from 7 p.m. until dusk. Fire works begin at dark. COMMERCE TO HOST SUMMER IN THE CITY Commerce will host Summer in the City on June 30 with music and fireworks. The movie “Jaws” will be screened on June 30 at 10 a.m. at the Cultural Center. Attendees will get a pass to the pool for the day, which can be used from 1-5 p.m. Back In Time Band will perform at the Summer in the City event, starting at 6 p.m. at Spencer Park. Church happenings GALILEE PLANS VBX NIGHTS Galilee Church is hosting its VBX Nights on Wednesdays in June. This year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Move.” Kids from kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to attend the program, which will be held Wednesday nights be ginning June 7 from 6-8 p.m. Register at galilee.org. WARREN CHAPEL TO HOST CHICKEN-QUE Warren Chapel United Methodist Church will have a chicken-que on Friday, June 9, and Saturday, June 10.
