The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office charged Leonardo Gabriel Steeple, 45, with two counts of trafficking cocaine, one count of felony possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon. Aija Monique Wil son, 38, was charged with one count of trafficking cocaine and one count of felony possession of marijuana. After a traffic violation, the Jack- son County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Hwy. 59 and Steve Reynolds Industri al Parkway in Commerce, on a vehicle driven by Steeple. A search of the ve hicle revealed that Steeple was in pos session of over one pound of cocaine. As a result, Steeple was arrested, and a search warrant was obtained to search his home in Toccoa. As a result of the search, Wilson was also arrested af ter additional amounts of cocaine and marijuana were located and seized from the home. Steeple was booked into the Jackson County Jail, and Wilson was booked into the Stephens County Jail. This is an ongoing investigation. JCSO - Incidents Person using gas station Bitcoin kiosk saves man from paying fraudulent fine A West Jackson man was about to pay a fraudulent $1,450 through a gas sta tion Bitcoin machine until someone using the kiosk before him told him he was being scammed. According to an incident report filed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), the man said some one claiming to work for the Jackson County court system called him and told him to pay a $1,450 fine for failing to appear in court. The man said the caller told him to deposit the mon ey into a Bitcoin kiosk at a gas station on Jesse Jewell Pkwy. in Gainesville. The man said he arrived at the gas station but hung up on the caller after a per son using the Bitcoin ma chine in front of him told him he was being scammed. Officers arrested the man for a warrant, but released him because the agency that had the warrant didn’t want to place a hold. •agency assist on Broad St. where officers assisted the Athens-Clarke County Police Department with a traffic stop. •lost/found item on Old Gainesville Hwy. where officers attempted to stop a motorcycle for a tag vio lation, but the driver tossed a small item and fled. A woman on the back of the motorcycle also exited the motorcycle and fell to the ground. Officers said it ap peared the woman jumped off the vehicle on purpose. Deputies attempted to fol low the motorcycle, but ul timately ended the pursuit.
