JEFFERSON COMMUNITY THEATRE
TO PRESENT REIMAGINED
1980S ROMEO AND JULIET
Jefferson Community Theatre will present Romeo and Ju
liet, a classic tale reimagined for the 1980s.
This production is produced by Amy Howard and David
Sullivan. It is adapted and directed by Jamie Allen.
Show times include Jun 16-18 and June 23-25.
Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and tickets cost
$10.
Sunday shows are at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are $5.
Performances will be held in the William Duncan Martin
Performing Arts Center at Jefferson High School.

JEFFERSON’S FREEDOM FESTIVAL
COMING UP JUNE 24
Jefferson’s Freedom Festival will be held June 24 from
5-10 p.m. in downtown.
The popular event features fireworks, music, games, ven
dors and food.
Wrestling at Southern on the road begins at 5 p.m. The
American Flyers Band will perform from 7 p.m. until dusk.
Fireworks begin at dark.

COMMERCE TO HOST SUMMER IN THE CITY
Commerce will host Summer in the City on June 30 with
music and fireworks.
The movie “Jaws” will be screened on June 30 at 10 a.m. at
the Cultural Center. Attendees will get a pass to the pool for
the day, which can be used from 1-5 p.m.
Back In Time Band will perform at the Summer in the City
event, starting at 6 p.m. at Spencer Park.
A fireworks show will be held around 9:30 p.m.

JEFFERSON FARMERS MARKET
OPEN WEEKLY ON TUESDAYS
Jefferson is hosting its Makers and Farmers Market on
Tuesdays in June, July and August. The market is open from
3:30-6:30 p.m. weekly.
It’s held at 76 Sycamore St. in downtown Jefferson.
BRASELTON WEST WINE HOP COMING UP
The fourth-annual Braselton West Wine Hop is scheduled
for June 22 dining which businesses will welcome patrons
with a wine tasting paired with snacks prepared by Braselton
restaurants. Ticketholders will ride the Braselton Trolley to
each sipping station
“Take your time strolling, shopping and enjoying other
activities provided by our local businesses,” organizers said.
“It’s a great way to explore Braselton West.”
One hundred rickets will be available. Sales begin May 18
at 10 a.m.
Ticket holders will receive a souvenir wine tumbler, punch
card with map of locations and a wine tasting and food sam
ple at each stop. Patrons must be at least 21 and will be re
quired to show identification at check in.

BRASELTON SUMMER ART-TIQUES VINTAGE
MARKET SET FOR JUNE 23-25
The Braselton Art-Tiques Vintage Market is scheduled for
June 23-25, featuring over 125 vendors.
The event will feature home decor, vintage, farmhouse,
primitives, rustics, pottery and local artwork inside the His
toric Braselton Gym at 4852 Hwy.53 and the surrounding
area.
Included in the three-day market will be food tracks and
live music.
Parking and admission are free.
The market schedule is as follows:
•Friday, June 23, noon to 7 p.m.
•Saturday, June 24, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
•Sunday, June 25, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

NICHOLSON PLANS FOURTH OF JULY EVENT
The City of Nicholson will host its Independence Day
event on Saturday, July 1.
There will be food and craft vendors, inflatables, a train
ride, a mechanical bull, music by Whiskey Rose Band and
fireworks.
The event will be held from 3-9:30 p.m. at East Jackson
Park, located at 225 Lakeview Dr., Nicholson.
PENDERGRASS PLANS FREEDOM
BLOCK PARTY
Pendergrass will host its Freedom Block Party on July
1 from 5-10 p.m. The fireworks show will start around
9:30 p.m.
There will also be food and music.
BRASELTON HOSTING ANNUAL
JULY 4 FESTIVAL AND FIREWORKS
The Town of Braselton will host its annual Independence
Day celebration Tuesday, July 4, downtown with a patriotic
parade, festival and fireworks show.
The festival includes a concert on the town green,
kid-friendly activities, food tracks, dining and shopping.
The parade begins at Free Chapel Braselton at 6 p.m. and
will continue through downtown on Hwy. 53 and Harrison
Street. Fireworks begin at dark.
The schedule is as follows:
•5-9:30 p.m., Food tracks, live music and activities on the
town green.
•6 p.m., Patriotic parade on Hwy. 53 from Free Chapel
through downtown
•Fireworks at dark (beginning between 9-9:30 p.m.)
•Soul Purpose Band, 6:30 p.m.
•5-9 p.m., parking shuttle to Free Chapel Braselton and
West Jackson Elementary School (shuttle service ends before
fireworks).
COMMERCE PLANS CONCERTS ON CHERRY
Commerce is hosting Concerts of Cherry in July and Au
gust.
Kaleb Wilbanks Band will perform on July 14 from
8-10 p.m.
Chris Chapman Band will perform on Aug. 5 from
8-10 p.m.
Both concerts will take place in the Cherry Street Parking
Plaza, located at 205 Cherry Street in downtown Commerce.
Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs for this free
event.
No outside alcohol is allowed. Attendees can purchase a $5
wristband for beer.
BRASELTON HOSTING ‘MOVIES
UNDER THE STARS’ ON TOWN GREEN
The Town of Braselton offers free, family-friendly movies
this summer on the town green at 9924 Davis St.
The remaining movie dates are July 15 and Aug. 12. Movie
titles will be posted on the town’s Facebook page closer to
the event dates.
Free parking is available across the street in the Braselton
Parking Deck.
Concessions will be available starting at 7 p.m. Some down
town restaurants will offer to-go dinners and beverages.

BRASELTON POLICE FOUNDATION
5K SET FOR JULY 29
The Braselton Police Foundation will host a 5K Saturday, July
29, at 7:30 p.m. at the lower patio of the Braselton Brothers De
partment Store building at 9924 Davis St. The cost is $30.
The course is certified for runners to use their times to qualify
ing for the AJC Peachtree Road Race.The Braselton Police Foun
dation raises funds to provide equipment and financial support
to the Braselton Police Department and to individual officers in
need.

BRASELTONTECH SPARK SESSIONS CONTINUE
BraseltonTech—a private-public initiative between the Town
of Braselton and the Advanced Technology Development Center
(ATDC) at Georgia Tech — continues its “spark sessions” at the
Braselton Civic Center to provide advice and support for startup
tech companies. The remaining schedule is as follows: May 18,
June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10. All sessions begin at 6 p.m.
BraseltonTech’s partner, ATDC, is a Geoigia economic devel
opment oiganization funded by the state legislature and managed
under the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute.
ATDC is the oldest technology business accelerator in the
U.S., and its graduating companies have raised over $3 billion
in venture capital.
The BraseltonTech workshops are free and open to the public.

BRASELTONTECH HOSTING MONTHLY
‘STARTUP SOCIALS’AT FISHBOWL
BraseltonTech has announced a series of ‘startup socials’ on
the first Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. at The Fishbowl at
Flourish Taproom located in Braselton’s 1904 Building.
According to oiganizers, the socials connect leaders of tech
startups with investors, entrepreneurs and mentors.
BraseltonTech is a private-public initiative between the Town
of Braselton and the Advanced Technology Development Center
(ATDC) at Georgia Tech to provide advice and support for start
up tech companies.
WORKSHOP PLANNED FOR
DEMENTIA CAREGIVERS
Social workers from Sixty Plus Services at Piedmont Health
care will lead a comprehensive workshop on Friday, July 21, for
non-professional caregivers of those with dementia. Participants
will learn about the types and stages of dementia, helpful resourc
es and how to take care of yourself.
The workshop will take place at Athens Community Coun
cil on Aging, located at 135 Hoyt Street in Athens, from
8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $20 and in

GALILEE PLANS VBX NIGHTS
Galilee Church is hosting its VBX Nights on Wednes
days in June. This year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Move.”
Kids from kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to
attend the program, which will be held Wednesday nights
beginning June 7 from 6-8 p.m.

Melvin Hill Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will
host vacation Bible school on June 26-30 from 6-8:30 p.m.

JOLLY AGERS MEETS SECOND TUESDAYS AT
FIRST BAPTIST COMMERCE
Jolly Agers group meets on the second Tuesday of each
month at noon at First Baptist Church of Commerce.
Jolly Ages is a senior adult ministry for those 60 years
of age and older.
The group meetings in the Fellowship Hall at FBCJ for a
covered dish luncheon and an inspirational program.
RIVER OF LIFE OFFERS FREE GROCERIES ON
LAST SATURDAY OF MONTH
River of Life Worship Center offers free groceries on the
last Saturday of each month. The event is held from 8:30-
10 a.m.
River of Life is located at 4971 Hwy. 441, Nicholson.
WMU MEETS AT FIRST BAPTIST COMMERCE
The WMU meets every second Tuesday of the month at
First Baptist Church of Commerce.
“Come join the Bible study, fellowship and fun,” orga
nizers said.
