John C. Briscoe Sr.
COMMERCE — John C. Briscoe Sr., 86, Commerce,
died Sunday, September 10,2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mr. Briscoe was bom in Snellville to the late Albert
Daniel and Rosa Lee Jones Briscoe. He was a member
of Maysville Baptist Church and the Lions Club. Mr.
Briscoe was retired from Johnson Motor Lines.
Mr. Briscoe is survived by Sarah Dunson Briscoe,
Commerce; son, Johnny Briscoe (Paula); Debbie
Housworth (Mike), Commerce; sister, Ellen Atkinson,
Pranklin; four grandchildren, Ashley Beauchamp (Jus
tin), Michael Housworth (Bralee), Andy Briscoe (Laura)
and Andrea Hudson (Joel); five great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.

2 p.m. in the chapel of Little-Ward funeral Home with
Dr. Shane Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in
Grey Hill Cemetery.

Donice Hayes Brown
WINDER — Donice Hayes Brown, 68, Winder, died
Sunday, September 3,2023.
Donice was bom on October 30, 1954, in Winder and
was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemak
er and a member of Mulberry Baptist Church.
Donice was preceded in death by her husband, Warren
Artis Brown; sons, Christopher Warren Brown and Artis
Brown.
She is survived by her children, Joel Brown (Sha
ron), Buford, Jason Brown (Sheena), Ocala, Llorida,
and Jeannie Christensen (Tim), Auburn; grandchildren,
Colton Dean Brown, Isabella Grace Brown, soon-to-be
baby girl Brown, Rylie Annalynn Christensen, Ayden
Scott Christensen, Calli Rene Christensen and Logan
Jay Brown; all the children who crossed her life and
called her Mama; and brothers, Dennis P. Hayes, Bu
ford, and Craig Waycaster, Buford.

Horace Chambers
WINDER — Horace Chambers, 81, Winder, passed
away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5,2023.
Mr. Chambers retired
as a buck driver for Har
rison Poultry. He was a
man who loved deeply in
his own unique way, work
ing tirelessly to provide
for his family. He was an
incredibly compassionate
and loving individual who
gave his all in everything
he did. His fierce love and
unwavering dedication
touched the lives of those
around him. His absence
will be deeply felt, and his memory cherished.
Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his parents,
Oscar Chambers and Ruby Roberts; and siblings, Wil
liam Chambers, Sarah Mae Hall and Lois Toole.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his loving wife of 52
years, Mary Lou Chambers, Winder; children, Henry
(Wendy) Chambers, Acworth, and Melissa (Glen) Rowe,
Winder; and granddaughter, Abigail Gravlin, Acworth.

away of natural causes on Wednesday, September 6,

Michael was a kind and thoughtful man loved by

Tony A. Fulcher
AUBURN — Tony A. Pulcher, 77, Auburn, passed
away peacefully on Saturday, September 9,2023.
Mr. Pulcher was a mem
ber of Eastside Baptist
Church of Winder. He was
a devoted husband, father,
grandfather, neighbor and
friend.
Tony worked for many
years alongside his father
as a plumber and then re
tired from Winder Lum
ber Company. He enjoyed
spending time with family,
watching westerns on tele
vision and using his iPad.
Mr. Pulcher was preceded in death by his parents,
Brunell and Willie Pulcher.
Mr. Pulcher is survived by his loving wife, Ann Pul
cher; children, Alan (Wanda) Pulcher, Andy Pulcher,
and Cindy (Jason) Evans; grandson, Trent Pulcher; sis
ter, Brenda Gower; and brother, Roy Pulcher.
Graveside service: Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at
2 p.m. at Barrow Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Alis-
sa Rothschild and Dr. Bob Hoffmann officiating.

Hill Wynn "Dickey” Steed III
ATHENS — Hill Wynn “Dickey” Steed III, 80, Ath
ens, passed away on Thursday, September 7,2023.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Hill
Wynn Steed Jr. and Cap-
itola Holliday Steed;
his siblings, Michael E
“Mickey” Steed and Jac
queline S “Jackie” Adams;
and his granddaughter, Jo-
ely Castang.
Dickey was a proud
graduate of Winder-Bar
row High School and
Brenau University. He
served his country in the
U.S. Air force and his community in the Athens Clarke
County Police Department, retiring after 38 years. He
was an active member of the American Legion, Post
163, where he connected with fellow veterans.
Dickey was a hardworking man who devoted much
of his time to helping his fellow citizens and providing
for his family. Outside of work, Dickey loved tinkering
on cars, treating each trip to the junkyard for spare parts
like a treasure hunt.
He felt most at peace near water. His fondest memo
ries included days spent fishing with friends and family
and the many happy summers he and his wife spent at
Myrtle Beach with their daughters.
In retirement, Dickey took pleasure in the simple
things — cutting grass on his riding mower, fussing at
deer for eating his com, and caring for the family’s dogs,
cats and horses.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gayle Cox
Steed; his daughters, Kimberly (Jean-Baptiste) Castang
and Wendy Steed; and his granddaughters, Katiana and
Maris Castang.
